Come now, the movie wasn't that bad. But you all really need to see Nostalgia Critic's take on it

It has to be because of the tequila that Hagar was invited.

Isn't that a little over the top?

I'd only consider two of those to be C&W music legends and Mel Tillis is on shaky ground...

Sammy Hagar was on the soundtrack to that, I think during the closing credits, in his last song with Van Halen (before he came back).

They recorded it pretty quickly.  There are some real noodley.tracks.  I am pretty sure they heard Husker Du was putting out a triple albums and were inspired to put out a triple album first, out of friendly competition.

Crewmannumber6: No Robert Earl Keen?

It's nice he's doing charity and all, but Toby Keith is slime.  Rancid, scrap off the bottom of the septic tank slime.  Why Willie Nelson agrees to share a stage with him is beyond me.

Why?

Seems an appropriate place for this question: I've always liked good accoustic guitar sounds. I don't sing and don't have a band or any interest in either.

Recently I've been playing rage (2011 shooter) and there's a mini game called strum, where the 'banjo man' plays a pretty cool little noodle if you dot play and just stand near him. For lack of a better term, it's got that 'post apocalyptic' feel. A little melancholy, but a great sound.

Anyone recommend any similar stuff to listen to, and to learn to play? It's hard finding straight accoustic stuff that sounds good, for me, since I listen to mostly metal and vocals stuff.

That's the joke. REK Wrote The Road Goes On And On to mock TK for stealing his song. Keen's parents are lawyers and told him he could sue, but he'd never make his money back. So instead he wrote that to expose him for the POS he is.

Yep, I thought it was a good and funny move on Keen's part, even if it hasn't gotten much attention.  To answer Gunny Highway's question, for starters Keith is a plagiarizer which is just another way of saying thief or crook.  Furthermore, he was all too happy to exploit the hell out of 9/11 to make loads of money.  Don't tell me it was about patriotism, that's bullshiat, it was all about making money.  He's not the only one who did it, of course, but fark him for it. Oh, and he was more than willing to use his power to kick the Dixie Chicks when they were down.  An asshole move. Other than that and his generic crap music he's great.

I remember when Sammy Hagar played at Farm Aid live on the Nashville Network in '84(?) right before he left the solo thing to go be in Van Halen.

Sammy came out and said THIS IS FOR YOU TRACTOR DRIVIN' MOTHERFARKERS and then went into I Can't Drive 55. It was hilarious. Them he brought Eddie Van Halen out to jam. It was the first time they ever played together in public.

Garth Brooks is the highest selling C&W artist of all time, no?  I think that qualifies as a legend.  WTF happened to that guy anyway?

I wonder during Sammy's first song if the crowd will react just like the crowd did at Bob's Country Bunker with Jake and Elwood?

Chicken Wire??
