Even journalist and commentator Zerlina Maxwell got on board - this time asserting that the Trumpster had deleted the tweet.

This is what our civilization has become. This person is considered a journalist.

Trolling someone as mentally challenged as Donald Trump is like shooting fish in a barrel.

I'm done with this culture.

Kolchak is right about two things:

1.  The Donald did vaguely threaten him -- extremely vaguely, like in Best Korea annihilating the US with a combined nuke & kimchi barrage.

2.  The original tweet was a failed attempt at humor.

I think the idiots that saw the original tweet or subsequent retweets, took them as real and then got all fired up about it were the ones who got trolled.  People were out there yelling about how Trump deleted a tweet that never existed ffs.

Deleting stuff you've posted is for cowards. It's one of the reasons I prefer fark over other time waster sites like reddit. Once you say something, it stays out there. You can't delete it in the hope of covering your tracks.

Not that this really had much to do with the article...

Ohhhhh, you mean Clownface von Farkstick.

Ah Twitter. Where you can commit libel, and then just blatantly assume/lie that the victim deleted the offending Tweet.

CygnusDarius: Honestly, as much as I hate Trump, that was a dick move.

This. If it hadn't caught on, maybe it wouldn't have mattered, but if there's a possibility the fire can get blown into the dry brush, maybe it's not the best time to play with matches.

So,

You post something with the intent to troll then get threatened and go into apology mode but try to spin it like your telling some fanciful "I'm a hero" story?

YOUR BLOG SUCKS!

So does your attempt to get people to believe you had no idea this could happen, and your stupidly spun public apology.

This is the first, and hopefully last, time I've been on Trump's side.

I might be more outraged if not for the fact that the only reason this blew up is because Trump is such a twatwaffle that nobody had any problem believing that's exactly the sort of stupid thing he'd say.

Yea, guy was a dick, but it only worked in the first place because Trump is such an utter farknugget that it was perfectly believable.

Fake parody Twitter account, fine.

Falsifying tweets, not fine.

Even Twitter has basic levels of etiquette.

That's why i hide a hotlink to a 1px x 1px alpha transparent self-hosted .png in all of my posts. If i need a post vanished i just dump "free cat.png" onto my FTP under the mystery name and the mods do the rest!

I guess it helps if you understand or care how tweeting works.

I don't.

Fantasta Potamus: I must say, Trump is an entertaining fellow on Twitter.

Yeah. His social media intern seems to have a sense of humour. Once every few months Trump does something heinous and I tell him that he's a terrible human being. Last time, he answered back ("that's just because you don't know me.") 41 other people jumped in. Most were on my side, but my favourite was the one who told me to "tell my stupid opinion to Jesus when he comes back."

I'm surprised that the combination of this much douche didn't just f*cking explode the time-space continuum.  It's like the Inception of douchebaggery.

FTFA: "because Twitter is a place for jokes about bacon and Paula Deen cooking meals for David Duke. "

Exactly!  I think his joke and blog are funny and spot on, and just shows how ill informed ass-hats run screaming "Fire" at the first look at something on the twitters or the facebooks...

Our media is even more atrocious and does the same thing.  Just look at the Boston bombing, and Oklahoma tornadoes..  Multiple times the news just jumped on the twitter/fb bandwagon and reported horribly wrong "facts" to the nation.

/seriously people

I'm not sure that story was long winded enough. Can you drag out the non-drama a bit more?

I bet the guy went open to the internet as the originator because despite how he makes it seem like he's not worried, he knows he could disappear any moment from the face of the earth, and nobody will be able to say Trump did it because of all the resources he has.

Poor guy pissing and crapping his pants now. You shouldn't mess with powerful people if you can't back up your claims.

I'm going to have to side with Trump on this one (and incidentally, throw up in my mouth a bit for saying that), but tweeter is totally in the wrong.  You don't misattribute something to someone unless it's obvious that it's a parody, like the Onion.  It generally also helps if you're funny.  Tweeter says something inflammatory because he has a poor sense of humor, causes a lot of hassle for someone who in this one case didn't deserve it, and then whines because he's being "threatened."  Doucheburger is doucheburger.

2013-06-20 10:30:54 PM
The Internet died a little bit with this... I am so sick of hearing about "trolling", I'm ready to fast forward a couple years to when it's called a joke again and the middle schoolers can have their word back.

2013-06-20 11:11:22 PM
twitter still sucks.

2013-06-20 11:29:46 PM
This, in a nutshell, is why I ignore everything about twitter.

It's like a billion little tiny trickles of shiat flowing into a thousand rivers of shiat. Yet millions of people stick their noses into it.
