American backed leaders who open new markets to business are dictators now? That sounds a little harsh.

Yeah the last guy they danced him around like a puppet and he got found out so they had to get rid of him. This new guy ain't playing nice with the puppet masters so they probably gonna have to "Re-educate" him or send him on permanent vacation and get someone more up to the job of being a puppet.

He didn't give two weeks notice.  Good luck finding a prime minister job elsewhere!

Curse those Israelis for forcing the Palestinians to be corrupt kleptocrats! And look how Israel has maneuvered  Assad into use nerve gas on his own people! Meanwhile the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people continues as evil Jews lull innocent Arabs into a sense of false security by allowing their numbers to quadruple in the West Bank since 1967. Then, when they least expect it, Wham! Genocide! Booyah! And don't get me started on how the Jews' unwillingness to allow relentlessly hostile people who are not now and have never been citizens of Israel, free access to the entire country is apartheid. It's apartheid, I tell you! They have no homeland, certainly not that country next door where they make up 60% of the population! Or the Israeli land grab which can be measured in acres per year--acres per year!--which will result in the complete occupation of the West Bank some time in the late 2070's. Genocide! Apartheid! Land grab! It's not fair! Why won't the cursed Israelis let their neighbors kills them?

Don't laugh. That's what a lot of Palestinians believe.

Attempts to cement a unity pact between the two parties have failed to take hold and ordinary Palestinians, enduring mounting living costs and unemployment, have grown disenchanted with bickering politicians.

"After only two weeks of not having any power to affect change? Sh*t man, you Palestinians sound like some pussies."

Sounds like the guy & his family got threatened after being accused of being a collaborator with the West.

A moderate academic of Fatah getting kicked out "unexpectedly over a dispute of power" and Hamas yelling on his way out that "Hamdallah's resignation indicates that unilateral steps remain weak, are useless and do not resolve the internal Palestinian problem ... The solution is not in having many governments. It is in the implementing the reconciliationagreement."

Translation:  Only Hamas.  Only their version of Sharia.  No Fatah.  No negotiations.  Not even with their own people.  This is not a Democratic state.  This is not how a Democracy functions.

The new Prime Minister / President should not have to run with his tail between his legs after being rightfully elected because of a "dispute over his power".

This is how a military theocracy works.  Palestinians do NOT want Democracy.
Here is your proof.

Funny thing is that the Palestinians ELECTED HAMAS in 2006.

I know it's easier to follow a Disney version pretending the poor underdogs are being manipulated by a small group of evildoers, but it's pretty ingrained in the Palestinian culture.

You are either with us or against us.  If you are a collaborator you will be executed.
So here is a PERFECT example of what happens to a Fatah Prime Minister in the face of a Theocratic military opponent.  He FOLDS UP like a cheap metal chair!  Democracy only works when the rule of law is followed, not a US vs. THEM mentality that is based in an extremist version of Sharia law.

Points taken, but you are overlooking a couple of million Palestinians living in a nearby democracy.

Are you talking about Jordan?  B/c Fatah in the West Bank is exactly what were talking about here in terms of a moderate being driven out by extremists.

FTA: Abbas chose Hamdallah while considering that Western countries who help keep the struggling West Bank government afloat with aid money were keen to see clean hands at the helm.

What, it's impossible to think that a nation created whole cloth in the late 1940s sits on someone else's land?

Do you also say, America was built on the graves of the Natives and "everything else follows from that".

That's a fair statement.  Guns, germs, steel, and some BS "divine right" made America.

When the settlers landed at Plymouth, they thanked God for such a great land.  Why, it was almost as if it was already a village, and the fields were already plowed!  Because they had been.  By the natives who all died of disease before "we" got there.

Thanks, God, their deaths prove we deserve this country!  They lost because God wants us to live here!

Huh, odd, sounds like we're talking about Israel again.

Generations have died and continue to fight over a tiny stretch of land, and even tinier subsections of that land, and the only explanation anyone can give is some variant of "We were here first" and/or "G-d told us to move here". But really, what's so great about it? Geographically, it's a place a lot of different people would have to pass through while going between Africa, Arabia, and the Caucuses, and thus might make a good place for a toll booth, but it seems a thoroughly unpleasant place to live for any length of time, women of the IDF notwithstanding.

So which of the foreign dignitaries streaming into the capitol told the PM he would now be reporting to a foreign influence on pain of the self-destructing shock device they had clandestinely implanted on his ball tubes months earlier? Oh yes, we'll soon see this man's balls explode in a crowded market.

The weather is really prime, and it's a crossroads for land trade between Asia and Europe (and East Africa  to a certain extent).  It's also a major tourist/pilgrimage hub, which is really its main blessing and curse.

People are fighting over holy rocks in a tourist trap, and not much else.
