They got it wrong. In the original Donkey Kong, he wasnt saving daisy it was Pauline.

Okay, first of all...not the lyrics.

Second of all, I could come up with better off-the-cuff 100+ straight times with no repetition.

Rap sucks donkey balls. Every single person who listens to that crap deliberately (except for its joke value) is a tool. Period.

Rap is spoken word equivalent to break dancing. All stupid all the time.

That music kinda resembled the mario theme but it was not the mario theme song.

I think I prefer Cap'n Lou's version over the end credits but those work too.

That would be nifty IF IT INCLUDED THE SUPER MARIO THEME.

Jesus, idiots.

Rap stole your girlfriend?

Or, are you sublimating your low self-image into an outward stab at something beyond your understanding or difficult to obtain on your own, very much like the Aesop's Fable concerning the Fox and the Grapes, relegating your disdain into an exaggerated and somewhat comical hatred appropos of nothing, or as my Grandmother would say, "Who stepped on your tail?"

Nah, Rap stole your girfriend.

No, he's right. Unless its like, The Lonely Island, Flight of the Conchords or some other parody, rap takes itself too damn seriously for the crap that it is.

I came in to claim that the melody was completely unrecognisable as the Mario Bros theme but this seems like a better argument to get into.

99% of rap is stupid. It's uneducated criminals boasting that they sucked the right cock to become obscenely rich. However, when a decent artist chooses a theme other than how many gold-plated assault rifles they own it's great. I guess that's true of any style... 99% sucks but when it's good it's good regardless of the style... (except hip-hop... that has no redeeming features) However. When rap sucks it's especially irritating. I don't know why. I can tune out One Direction and Nickelback but bad rap just makes me want to track down the 'artist' and sever their vocal cords.

Sorry, just re-read you comment and noticed this. Rap is not beyond anyone's understanding. Those who produce it are not exactly rocket surgeons. They're generally barely literate.

This is like when you see a Confederate flag on the back of people's cars. It's nice when people say, right out front, that they'll never have anything constructive to add to any conversation, ever.

Not liking a form of music, most commonly used for glorifying stupidity and violence, means you have nothing to add to a conversation?

Please. That went way beyond "not liking a form of music". Not liking a form of music is fine. That was the wholesale, antagonistic rejection of any possible merit in a style of music, right alongside calling fans of that kind of music "tools".

Detective novels suck donkey balls. Every single person who reads that crap deliberately (except for its joke value) is a tool. Period.  They are the written word equivalent to break dancing. All stupid all the time.

Ah. I get it now. You're a rap fan and he hurt your feelings.

I'm still not getting how expressing hatred for rap and its fans is equivalent to displaying a Confederate flag. I'm guessing you are equating the display of such a flag with racism (although that would be exactly the sort of generalisation you're upset at someone else making). In that case I would point out that hating a form of music frequently associated with African Americans is not equivalent to hating African Americans. To suggest that would itself be racist as you're assuming all African Americans like rap.

Most rap IS terrible, I didn't deny that. I don't get how saying everyone who likes a style of music is a "tool" is somehow respectable discourse, however. There is good rap out there. I don't read romance novels, and yet I don't go about saying they are all horrible, nor do I imply anyone who reads them is inferior to someone who reads another type of book.

You don't get how displaying a flag that stood for the dissolution of the Union and the right to own slaves doesn't pigeonhole the kind of conversation you can have with someone? Someone who proudly displays a Confederate flag and a sticker saying "THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!" clearly has nothing important to say regarding government or race relations. Just like someone saying "All rap is stupid and people who listen to it are too!" negates any insight they'll have into music.

Anyone who has such a simplistic view of history has nothing important to say. (see I can generalise too)  The American civil war was over more than slavery.

However, you're arguing with a throw-away aside rather than the main point of my post, which is:
It isn't racist to hate rap music and fans of rap music. There are African Americans who don't like rap and white people who do. There are even, gasp, white people who write and perform rap.

I never said hating rap fans was racist. I said it was stupid and shows a narrow mind.

Also: What WAS the civil war about?

NateAsbestos: Also: What WAS the civil war about?

Many factors, including the autonomy of the confederate states.

I'm sure it's nice to believe that the Union was fighting and dying for the rights of black people but such altruism is rarely enough motivation for war. Do you also believe that the Gulf Wars were about freeing Iraqis from Saddam Hussein's oppression?

So the Confederate flag comment wasn't intended to imply that those who hate rap are racist?

OK then but you must have been then saying that hating rap is analogous to hating  African Americans. Fortunately that is almost as ridiculous.

Being African American is not a choice. You are either born one or not. It says nothing about your personality and value as a human being.
Listening to rap music is a choice. It says something about your thought processes, your personality or at the very least your taste (or lack thereof)

Judging people based on their race is wrong and stupid. Judging people based on their choices is not. In fact a person's choices are all we can validly judge them on.
