The smoky haze have caused major disruptions throughout the cities since Monday, including delays at Changi Airport due to poor aircraft visibility and fast-food delivery suspension

Fast-food deliver suspension?!? shiat just got real.

Stupidmitter is not so good at the reading of the things.

Officials in Indonesia blamed companies in Singapore for contributing to the haze, claiming that "zero burning" policies were used to clear the land. "Singapore shouldn't be like children, in such a tizzy," said Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Agung Laksono.

Time to man up and put on the big boy panties.

Yeah good luck with that.  I'm also sure Hong Kong would love to be able to order neighboring Guangdong province in Mainland China to stop dumping shiat into the waterways they share with them and cut down on the air pollution.

Actually, it's the Indonesians who said that.

And I agree, the Singaporeans (or whatever they're called) are being awfully picky. So the air has some extra stuff in it - just call it fortified oxygen and move on.

CSB time

I was working on a US ship in a Singapore shipyard. It turns out that very few people native to Singapore actually work in the yard. It's beneath them to do that kind of labor so the get immigrants from India and China to do the really nasty work. While I was there, an oil drilling ship was moored next to the ship I was working on and they were dumping raw sewage into the bay. It reeked.

Well, these guys that they import to work there live in Conex boxes right outside the yard and they don't have plumbing or running water. At lunchtime they went down to the bay and washed up before they eat. I always wondered what the f*ck was on their hands that was worse that the cesspool they were washing in.

It seems strange to me for people that live in such heavily concentrated places like Singapore to complain about air quality, but then I RTFA and it makes more sense.
This dangerous environmental damage is supposed to be localized to the countries that are exploited by the corporations, so it's a big deal if the effects are felt by said corporations.

I don't think there's one developed country in the world that doesn't have that situation. I think Singaporeans are ethnically Chinese though so that part is a little strange.

There are not so many mutts, just that the city-state consists of groups of Malays, Chinese, Indians, Indonesians, etc but not as great a deal of mixed marriages as one might think.

As a farker living in Singapore, I can say it has been incredibly bad, especially today and yesterday.  Singapore usually has pretty good air quality, but in the summers Indonesia slashes and burns to clear up farmland, and we suffer for it.  It's to the point now that even fit adults are complaining of breathing problems and every pharmacy is out of breathing masks.  Only upside is that the whole country smells like one big bonfire.  Ahhh, good memories.

Don't forget the 4th class, ethnic Chinese and English, far from being a mutt they're generally considered up at the top of the social circles with the Chinese.

Did meet one of the handful of Chinese and Indian mutts in the early 200's, most beautiful woman I've ever seen but only considered "meh" there because of the social strata rules.

I'm going there in about 3 weeks for work, so I'm getting a kick, etc. Thankfully I'll be in a data center 85% of the time so whatever. Hopefully when I go back in September this shiat's cleared up.
