It doesn't really work well when you define your scandal first then try to assemble the facts to support it afterwards.

#10 Downing Street thought it worked well with Iraq war policy.

The sentiment thrived in Wednesday's crowd, too. Gene McIlhone, who'd written "DEATH + TAXES IN ONE FELL SWOOP" on his poncho, thought about the last fortune cookie he'd cracked open. The piece of paper inside read: "A master can direct without speaking." That said it all about Obama. "He hired the kind of people who knew what they had to do," and he "will go down in history as the greatest Marxist who ever lived."
Carol Lennon had drove from Clearwater, Fla., to make the rally-17 hours, overnight. Her brother-in-law's auto-body shop was targeted by the IRS, and she knew it was because he donated to the Tea Party. What was the president's role? "Even if he doesn't come out and say it," she said, "they know that's what he wants."

And this is why people like me, who agreed that the IRS was in the wrong with their use of a politically biased keyword list to pick out 501(c)(4)s for scrutiny, have completely tuned out the IRS "scandal" coverage.

It's almost like the narrative is more important that the facts.

If that were true we wouldn't still be hearing about Benghazi.

The right doesn't need to be correct and they know it. They just need to trump up enough fake "scandals" to fatigue voters before 2014 and 2016. They did the same thing to Clinton. The entire witch-hunt led against him was a ridiculous affront to common sense and it wasted tens of millions of tax-payer dollars to ultimately discover that guys like blow jobs, but it didn't matter that it was all complete horseshiat. It went on long enough and took enough forms that it fatigued voters and they reflexively turned on the democrats in the 2000 election sufficiently to get Dubya "elected".

Conservatives stopped caring about being right long ago because they learned it's more effective just to be loud.

People will just do his bidding....study it out, stay infromed.

In the end, what did the IRS prevent these groups from doing? It didn't stifle their speech, it didn't prevent ads or rallys, all they did was ask for some more information, more forms and verification. Those monsters. Remind us again, how many were even denied their status in the end?

So now is it going to be every time someone gets audited it's because they are a Christian, or a Republican, not because they are a tax cheat? Sorry, alleged tax cheat. The only tragedy in this whole thing is they have one more boogeyman to add to their list.

I kind of think that's the endgame here: get the IRS afraid to do more than rubber stamp a 401(c)(4)'s application for tax-exempt status, thus ending even the pretty lax enforcement of that standard we had.  So you end up with lots of new places to stash dirty Koch Brothers money.

As stated, liberals used to insinuate that Cheney had to tell Bush what was going on.

Now we have an administration where nobody ever knows what's going on.

But when Republicans take back the White House, and they will sooner or later, if the IRS starts doing this same sort of crap to liberal groups you'll totally believe they did it all on their own without any direction at all from anyone within the administration. It's just amazing how many things that benefit Obama just seem to "happen" without him knowing about it.

I wish they would, I  don't like the NSA thing, and Obama is like that friend you had in high school who went to a different college, and when you both met up a couple years later you realize you no longer have much in common.

You know that feeling when you're eating a bag of chips, and you're halfway through and you just know that your gonna end up eating the whole thing even though you know you shouldn't?  Don't you get a similar feeling when you type out ridiculous comments like that?  Like, jeez, I'm being pretty stupid, I really ought to stop.  Or do you have so little self control that all your thoughts make it onto the screen, with no filter involved?

He's attempting to broaden the focus of a probe and ask whether any IRS audits of individuals-not of groups-were conducted on orders from the Obama administration.

This lazy, incompetent, do-nothing President is up all night going through every American's personal files and demanding investigations on those that represent a threat to his power.
