Didn't Chael Sonnen get pecker slapped his last time out? That said, put those two in the octagon together and you can shut up and take my money.

js34603: LeBron James: Who?

LeBron apparently knows exactly who Sonnen is, since LeBron asked for, and received, free tickets to one of Sonnen's fights, as mentioned in TFA.  And LeBron's actions at said fight are pretty much the basis for Sonnen's vitriol.

That said, I think we all could kick LeBron's ass in a fight.  Gently tap him, and, just out of habit, he'd flop to the floor.

Sorry Sonny. NBA is far and away the best league in the world. It'd be nice if there were a Olympic style competition for all FIBA leagues, but it's not going to happen. Same thing for the NHL. Money talks apparently.

Football is kind of a wash. No one else really plays it so no one can or would contest it.

Actually I'd bet money Lebron knows who Anderson Silva is. He asked the UFC for tickets. A lot of people have heard of Anderson Silva, not so much for Chael.

I've heard of a few MMA guys, but never this one. And also, I'm pretty sure that "sick burn" is as old as The Decision.

/Not news.

A lesser known pro athlete from one sport thinks he can beat a highly visible, talented pro athlete from another sport?  I'm shocked.

I dislike James as much as anyone else with ties to Cleveland (uncles/aunts/cousins are all there), but this hatred for him is just tired and old.  Judge him by his basketball accomplishments and leave this pettiness behind.  His hairline?  Yeah, some men lose their hair when they age.  We all age.  Deal with it.

/go Spurs

Even the people who go to see the Globetrotters know who the Washington Generals are.

Not to me.  It's more like a parody of basketball. No charging, no travelling, the visiting team can't play defense, the home team would have to murder someone to commit a foul. What rules there are are applied arbitrarily, it's a joke.

Chael Sonnen is the premier smak talk troll of MMA. I don't think he takes any of what he says seriously but he plays it out well. The guy hypes fights, hypes himself and hypes his sport. IMO, the telling fact is after he gets his ass whopped he is very complimentary to the fighter who blasted him and humbles out.

I watch the NBA, and I agree with him - of all the major sports I watch, the NBA's rules are definitely the most arbitrarily applied.  But the NBA's still entertaining.

Is there any non-USA (or Canada based in applicable cases) team that would beat the NFL champion?  The MLB champion?  The NHL champion?  The NBA champion?

The NHL is the only one that would be even close.

As a Dallas Mavericks fan who remembers the Antoine Wright "no foul call" on Carmello Anthony in the 2009 playoffs, because Wright "fouled him, but didn't foul him HARD enough", I stand by my belief that NBA foul calls seem completely arbitrary.

agreed.....he hit on a formula that what's his name, the Don King of MMA (david white?  drawing a complete blank) keeps giving him fights because he (chael) is a good carny barker.  problem is, he's lost his last what, 3 marquee matchups?  yet he keeps getting fights.

chael seems pretty cool, don't get me wrong, but MMA is not putting the best product out there.  there are hungrier guys who deserve shots but they're being bypassed for The Mouth That Roared.

It's Dana White, though i wouldn't call him the Don King of mma.  He's a good promoter and foul mouthed, but he's not a ridiculous, sleazy  goofball like Don King.

You are right about Chael though.  He's great at getting attention and promoting his fights and the sport in general.  Just don't take him seriously.

Oh I was going to start with Pacers/Knicks and Lakers/Kings and move my way on from there. Either way San Antonio already had two championships under their belt at the time, so it's not like they were an unknown or unappreciated quantity.

It would be over pretty quickly. James would toss him aside like a rag doll.

Let's face it, there's no amount of international play that will satisfy the "NUH UH NOT WORLD CHAMPIONS" argument makers so let's drop it.

The only way a sport is "International" is if there's a giant corrupt body ruining the dozens of meaningless leagues it spawns.

Yay it's more retards acting like all the best players in the world don't play in American leagues. Whoever wins the NBA title is the world champion. It's not even worth pretending that a team from around the world would defeat them in a series.

Stephon Marbury would've been the Chinese league MVP if foreigners were allowed to win it. Yi Jianlian DID win it. Marbury was overrated early in his career then everyone realized he made teams worse in the NBA - now that he's well past his prime, he's still better than anyone else in China. Yi sucks ass.

Euroleague MVPs are typically benchwarmers in the NBA. The NBA has all of the world's best players.

How can they be world champs if they didn't play every team in every league? They need to play 10,000 games each year and fly to all those locations to be REAL world champions! Who cares if even Santa Claus couldn't achieve that kind of world coverage in his time machine sleigh? That just means they're posers.

/not our fault the rest of the world sucks and still plays sh*tty British sports because they were incapable of thinking of their own
