such drone use is done in a "very, very minimal way, and very seldom."

It always starts that way, just recreational use, so innocent.  You can control it you say to yourself.  Next thing you know, you're using them on work day nights, then at lunch times.  Next thing you know, you're sucking dick for more drones.

Cool. I printed out a giant aerial picture of a small nuclear storage facility, a large meth lab, various sundry brown people, and women on leashes tied to trees and placed it over my property.

For the lulz.

snocone: Thunderpipes: Thing that worries me, is this administration is using government agencies like the DOJ, IRS, EPA to brazenly target politcal opponents. I could see them using drones to simply spy on conservatives.

It is brazen only because EVERYBODY does it, all the time, regularly, when it is their turn.
That standard practice is now no longer just a rumor, brazen.

When did Bush do it?

verbaltoxin: PanicMan: cefm: There's a world of difference between armed remote-control aircraft being used to kill people in foreign countries that we are not at war with and the use of remote-control aircraft here in the US for entertainment, for competition, to take mapping or survey photographs, to deliver pizza, or to take photo/video of a crime scene.

What the loonies in the media and Congress are doing very successfully right now is attempting to take the legitimate moral ethical and legal outrage over #1 and transfer it to #2 because it's the FBI and that means it's Obama and he bad.

No citizen of the United States has any legitimate reason to object to the FBI using a remote-control aircraft to take photos of, film, and otherwise provide situational awareness of a crime scene.  It's a 100% legitimate investigative tool and unless it somehow interferes with the FAA's flight paths (unlikely) it is 100% legal as it is currently used.

So go take a cold shower and rub one out on some Ayn Rand books, Mr. Tea-Bag idiot, there's no story here.

This this and this.  They fly a small UAV with a camera around active crime scenes.  That's perfectly legitimate.

Also, anyone who uses the term "drone" is probably not informed enough on the topic to speak inteligently.

I'm very infromed on the topic, though.

I've seen demonstrations of such a system in which individuals are identifiable or nearly so. It'll be essentially what London is trying to do, except they won't have to carpet a city with a gazillion individual cameras and there won't be any uncovered areas.

You'll know its here when some bullshiat reason for banning awnings over sidewalks is put forth.
