DrPainMD: Is there anybody left who doesn't see that our greatest enemy (our only enemy, really) is our own government? Anybody?
bdub77: Noticeably F.A.T.: bdub77: My privacy is being violated! I am totally going to update my Facebook status about this! Are you really unaware that there is a difference between information freely given to an entity of you choice, and information taken without your permission by people you don't necessarily want to have that information?Of course not. But I find it ironic that the vast majority of people are generally happy with the status quo and yet are so upset about this, because they already gave their rights away more than a decade ago after 9/11 under the Patriot Act, they never voted the clowns who instituted it out of office, they continue to be fine with our huge military, including a huge presence in other countries (Syria being the latest flavor of the month) and meanwhile, they continue to give rights about their info away every day so they can play on their Xbox One or get gmail or go to Facebook or listen to music. Anyone connected to the world not living in a bunker somewhere has been giving their personal info to one corporate entity or another - why isn't that discussed? The EU has strong personal privacy laws? Why not us?I would be the first to condemn Obama for his actions violating the 4th amendment. I don't like it one bit. I think it should be illegal under the Constitution. Unfortunately a majority of 9 people on the Supreme Court disagree with me. Don't like it? Well create a movement and throw these assclowns out of office.
Voiceofreason01: the FBI operating a handful of drones for legitimate (and legal) purposes isn't a big deal
Amish Tech Support: Ok America,Why are we all suddenly enraged by something that has been going on for years? So next week are we all going to discover the atrocities in Vietnam?
bdub77: The important thing is that all of these 'scandals' are really just a way to waste everyone's time on an issue that will never go away whilst simultaneously Congress does absolutely f*cking zero.I wouldn't be surprised if all this crap, Snowden included, was just done on purpose to distract us from the fact that our government in essence should be governing, which means drafting workable legislative compromises, and yet the immigration bill is a morass of crap and Congress wants to focus all its time and effort on an abortion bill and repealing Obamacare for the sake of political gamesmanship, two things which will never pass the Senate but will get out its base of crazies in 2014.If you want the government to spy on you less, then VOTE FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO DEFUND THE MILITARY AND INTELLIGENCE ORGANIZATIONS.Maybe we could even save a little cash too.
jjorsett: The day will shortly be here, if it isn't already, when all urban areas will be videotaped in high resolution 24/7 from surveillance aircraft or satellites. I've seen demonstrations of such a system in which individuals are identifiable or nearly so. It'll be essentially what London is trying to do, except they won't have to carpet a city with a gazillion individual cameras and there won't be any uncovered areas.
