NickelP: Its years later and several interpretations are still commonly discussed. It meant whatever you wanted it to. It took tons of shiat at the time but what a way to let your series live on.

Yeah, live on as the biggest series ending letdown in history.  Fark that noise.

TrixieDelite: wjllope: Anyone that thinks he wasn't killed at the end of The Sopranos is a twerp. a twerp I say. Painfully obvious.

HE wasn't killed. We were. WE were whacked. WE. WERE. WHACKED.

If Meadow had ever gotten nekkid I'd whacked a lot more.

Atomic Spunk: The biggest shock to me was that he was only 51 years old. I thought the guy was in his late 50s to early 60s. Very sad, though.

I had the same thought!  So he was what, only 37 when Sopranos started?

Check him out in The Mexican some time, an under appreciated movie.  He's got a really nice piece of work there (also, Brad Pitt's broken/non-existent Spanish is perfect).

ontariolightning: Sorry to hear that. Sucks for his family. My thoughts are with them.
However, The Wire > Deadwood> Oz > Six Feet Under ....................................................................  The Sopranos.

The Wire is overrated. The Sopranos is infinitely more watchable.

No! That sucks, man. I always thought he was a good actor. And he was also hot.

He was in a movie with Robert Redford, I think it was called The Castle.

It was OK, he was decent in it.

His daughter better get in shape or she could go the same way.

2013-06-19 07:59:46 PM

mechgreg: I'll take that one. He didn't die. A surprise twist where Tony dies is super hackey writing. And David Chase is a lot of things but he wasn't a hack.

I dunno, I'm no film scholar but this was pretty persuasive. Besides, wasn't the whole buzz leading up to the finale the question of whether he'd get whacked? The only "twist" here was the ambiguity. Plenty of people would have bet that he would be (unambiguously) killed as part of the dramatic conclusion to the show about mobsters.

Then again, I'm one of those douchebags who thinks the top falls at the end of  Inception, so...

/sorry for his family's loss

Carth: 51 is too young. Get in shape people being overweight is literally killing people everyday.

Agreed. I'm sick of people telling me (as if I am stupid to eat healthy food and exercise) that they don't want to get old and die a slow death. So, they want to die a slow life while they are still young?? The other day I was running (not bragging, I'm talking about a chubby girl in a baggy old tshirt doing a 12 minute mile) and a guy yells at me 'What- are you trying to live forever?'

WTF?

Maybe The Shield or Breaking Bad wouldn't exist but Lost and BSG still would. So shut up you don't have a clue.
