There are no brick-and-mortar churches where adherents gather to pray and paddle.

I know some places in San Francisco that come pretty close.

Yeah, but no:

Some couples keep the lifestyle from their children; others, like CDD blogger Stormy, don't. "Not only does he spank me with no questions asked for disrespect or attitude in front of them, but I am also required to make an apology to each of them," she writes.

I would bet my hat that Stormy's going to end up getting spanked by half of her son's high school friends.

The difference is that an bdsm relationship has to be consensual to be acceptable.

The relationship described in the article is imposed by religion.

I used to know a sub.  This, right here, is real S&M... the only difference is that the people in it seem to need some kind of a religious validation so they don't feel dirty about it.  I just hope the subs are doing it willingly.  It's farked up that some of them do it in front of the kids... that's just messed up.

FTFA:
Dig deeper, though, and you'll find women who seem to want out. They describe being scared and in physical and emotional pain. The responses range from suggestions to submit more fully and try harder to leaving the relationship.

"I wanted the spankings to stop and my husband told me it was either DD and marriage or divorce," one user named "Michelle" wrote on a popular domestic discipline blog. "I chose divorce. I couldn't handle the pain of spankings anymore, emotionally or physically."

Sigh...  I figured this would be the case.  Guys who do this without the consent of their wives should be in jail.

/Probably getting spanked by Bubba while they beg him to stop

2013-06-19 06:29:38 PM
these are a combo of run of the mill deviants trying to reconcile their christian teachings and just straight up abusive men pretending they are "doing it for the lord." the former should just grow up and the later should go to jail for abuse

AntiNerd: The relationship described in the article is imposed by religion.

From best I can tell, regardless of whether it's imposed by religion or not, these people seem to be willing participants. No doubt that it's rife with abuses and one can only imagine what the kids in these relationships have to suffer in terms of abuse, but just based on this article, seems like women getting spanked who are ok with it.

MY ex-wife was full on "The woman should be completely submissive, the man runs the house and what he says goes."

There was no "punishment".

It got old quick.

Then again her "faith" was tough to follow. I guess I had the authority to tell her not to buy take out for dinner with our limited food budget but I didn't have the authority to tell her "don't go whoring it up with your WoW guildleader when you told me you were visiting your cousin".

Religious people are hard to figure out.

When a wife breaks her husband's rules-rolling her eyes, maybe, or just feeling "meh," as one blogger put it-that can equal punishments which are often corporal but can also be "corner time"; writing lines (think "I will not disobey my master" 1,000 times); losing a privilege like internet access; or being "humbled" by some sort of nude humiliation. Some practice "maintenance spanking," wherein good girls are slapped on a schedule to remind them who's boss; some don't.
