(FIFA)   Brazil-Mexico and Japan-Italy yesterday, with Spain-Tahiti and Nigeria-Uruguay today. It's your FIFA Confederations Cup thread, now with fewer protests, but still too late to make the games that happened three days ago   (fifa.com ) divider line

ADubs86: TheManofPA: ADubs86: This is an unfair scoreline to Tahiti really, but Spain are the #1 team on the planet for a reason.

I don't know, Spain missed a penalty and two other easy shots when they got too cute, this could have been far worse. Mind you, Tahiti wanted to score one goal in this tourney and they already did it. I would love to see them score first against Best Guay though

It's not unfair in the sense that it could have been worse, it's unfair in the sense of no team should go out, give it their all, and still get drubbed 10-nil.

Love the sportsmanship by Spain though at the end handing off the kit tops in unison.

I get that, especially given the fact that Tahiti went all out. They could have dropped everyone back and just tried to give up as few goals as possible. Instead they played all out, everyone forward, keeping a good pace and trying to score.

Gordon Bennett: Norfolking Chance: You can make a very good case for saying that the US has hosted a WC too recently so loosing doesn't automatically mean that bribes were involved.

Not a very good case. Mexico hosted in 1970 and again in 1986.

But that was b/c Colombia was supposed to host in 86, but the FARC (Fark's favorite homonymic rebel group) insurgency made the WC moved to Mexico in the last minute.

That guy is bananas.

He's also the first transfer target I go after in every FIFA season since, I dunno... 2010?
