(FIFA)   Brazil-Mexico and Japan-Italy yesterday, with Spain-Tahiti and Nigeria-Uruguay today. It's your FIFA Confederations Cup thread, now with fewer protests, but still too late to make the games that happened three days ago   (fifa.com) divider line 127

The crowd is really into this game for it being a 9 to nil blowout.

Bummer, 10-0

I haven't seen nearly enough fan footage or steel drums yet to believe this is Brazil

Two minutes of stoppage? That's cruel.

This is an unfair scoreline to Tahiti really, but Spain are the #1 team on the planet for a reason.

Drop the mic and walk away.

Tahiti now awaits Uruguay, who may come in having to worry about goal differential as a means of advancement.

The Tahitians did it the right way, they could of come out and tried to kick Spain out of the game but they didn't.

Take your lap of honor boys, you deserve it.

I don't know, Spain missed a penalty and two other easy shots when they got too cute, this could have been far worse. Mind you, Tahiti wanted to score one goal in this tourney and they already did it. I would love to see them score first against Best Guay though

It's not unfair in the sense that it could have been worse, it's unfair in the sense of no team should go out, give it their all, and still get drubbed 10-nil.

Love the sportsmanship by Spain though at the end handing off the kit tops in unison.

The Tahiti coach actually said: "Spain are not interested in finishing the game at 10-0. Spain are very respectful and they respect the small teams. I do notthink we will lose by an historic scoreline."
Whoops.

I get that, especially given the fact that Tahiti went all out. They could have dropped everyone back and just tried to give up as few goals as possible. Instead they played all out, everyone forward, keeping a good pace and trying to score.

Rwa2play: star_topology: ADubs86: Honda's on a free. Can't wait to see that bidding circus.

That guy is bananas.

He's also the first transfer target I go after in every FIFA season since, I dunno... 2010?

Heh, I got me some 19-year-old French defender on a free transfer who's 6'4" and rating was 79 when I signed him.  Went up to 81 after a couple of weeks of training.

Too bad I already had Dede (from Vasco) playing alongside Vermalen in my back four. ^_^

/Also:  Spanked Real 5-0 in the CL final...at the Bernabeu.
//HAH~!

That sounds like Kurt Zouma from St. Etienne. I get him too. :P

Sugar. Up the Irons!
Just keeping crawling up the table Hammers. I could use a few seasons of not worrying about the drop for a change.

Way to be a big jerk, Spain

Seems Nigeria is doing better than I expected.  Haven't watched any of the game yet, but surprised it's level.

Good luck to him.  20 million loss on him, but hopefully we put the transfer fee to good use

Heck of a strike there.

Wow, Tahiti only gave up 10.  Spain must have taken the classy route.

Nah, someone the game made up.  Stud defender though; got him for £40K/week and his value is about £17 Million.

northguineahills: Gosling: Oh, the hell with professionalism and discipline, ESPN. BALLS FOR THE BALL GOD! GOALS FOR THE GOAL THRONE!

The FIFA record was when Austalia was still in Oceana (2005?) and beat American Somoa 34-0. Tim Cahill set a record w/ 14 goals. (Competitive match [WC qualifying]).

31-0, and it was Archie Thompson with 13 goals

Gosling: Remember, the senior FIFA tournament record is nine at the World Cup. (Qualifying doesn't count.)

Hungary got 10 against El Salvador in 1982

You are correct sir!
/I have no excuse except for trying to type on my phone from memory while having a few pints.  Thanks for the correction!  It was 8 years ago, and I'm a yank.
