Smelly Pirate Hooker: A Washington Times link? Pass.
jaytkay: C) Everything in The Washington Times
iheartscotch: Someone on the flight had fingernail clippers and an 8oz bottle of water.

Nickster79: I read Plumb Island and watched the film adaption of The General's Daughter.Never reading anything by Demille again.
Galileo's Daughter: Nickster79: I read Plumb Island and watched the film adaption of The General's Daughter.Never reading anything by Demille again.I've read Plum Island (his best, IMO), Up Country, The General's Daughter, Spencerville, Night Fall, and Wildfire. Love the John Corey books, but the rest is meh.
uncleacid: The pilot of a National Guard plane in the area who said he saw a missile hit the plane vanished the next day.
Ricardo Klement: Heinrich von Eckardt: [img.fark.net image 247x204]The great thing is that people think they're making some kind of brilliant observation."Look! A big hole! That must be where the missile hit!"Frequently, where the big hole is and where missiles hit are not the same.
Warthog: I typically crap all over conspiracies. But when six members of the NTSB investigation team come forward and say the investigation was rigged, that gets my attention. NTSB investigations are usually focused on transparency, regardless of whose toes get stepped on. And the folks who do the investigation care more about being right than about being popular. So for those folks to have come forward and say the evidence didn't show what they said it did at the time, something would seem to be different here.
Vodka Zombie: uncleacid: The pilot of a National Guard plane in the area who said he saw a missile hit the plane vanished the next day. It's almost like he never existed in the first place...

Love the John Corey books, but the rest is meh.I really liked the dialogue and the character's thought processes, but a couple of things about Plum Island really bugged me.(Spoilers, obviously)1. The way he just randomly remembered some off hand detail the reader had never heard of before that helped him solve the case.2. They spent all that time setting up the fifth level of that bio lab and how dangerous it was...then never used it.3. Every single woman he met was insanely attractive and interested in him, despite the fact that by his own admission he looked like complete hell in his current state.
shower_in_my_socks: It's unfortunate that subby linked to the tabloid Washington Times instead of one of the more credible outlets covering this same story. I don't know a whole lot about surface-to-air missiles, so I have no idea if the hole in the side of the plane is consistent with a missile attack. However, it is an outward explosion-looking hole, which would be consistent with an internal gas tank explosion. As for eye witness testimony -- ask any cop and they'll tell you eye witnesses are TERRIBLE. People imagine seeing shiat, they hear what someone else thinks they saw and suddenly add that to their own story, they flat out lie just to get attention, and on and on. I'll check out the doc, though, probably. Hopefully it's an objective film and not just propaganda pushing an agenda.
