Just grabbed it now. Better than Diablo.

Probably because it was made by the guys who started Blizzard North and made the first Diablo.

Probably also explains why I couldn't stand Diablo 2 or 3.

Somehow I'm not seeing the free part.

Torchlight is pretty good, mindless entertainment.  Also, you can generally buy the game for around $10, so no worries if you miss out on the free.

I thought the same, at first.  You have to login under your GOG account.  It'll then come up as free.

Thanks subby!  Didn't play this when it first came out, but going to give it a shot now.

What's the catch? This is a special, altered version where the frogs in level 5 are only vulnerable to an enchanted anti-frog sword that costs $4.99?

w00t!

Thanks for the heads-up.

Tommy Moo: What's the catch? ...

You have to register on GOG.com if you haven't already and you have to do it before the end of business tomorrow, as far as I can tell.

I also got 9 other games for free just for signing up. I have no idea if they're any good yet, but it was a nice gesture of theirs.

Nice, thanks for the tip subby.

/ think that'll work out for Gog too, can't imagine I won't be spending more money there

That's a good deal. They also have The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition for only $6 (!!)

I might have to pick up NWN2 or Might and Magic 6-pack (MM6 was meh, but the 4+5 World of Xeen combo was excellent back in the day)

Many thanks to subby. I discovered Gog about 2 months ago trying to find a version of The 7th Guest that could run on Windows 7. My free time could vaporize if I'm not careful.

They also announced that they will have The Witcher 3 DRM free on release.  Not a surprise since GOG is basically owned by Projekt CD.

An account is required to get it for free... which inevitably leads to you spending too much money on awesome games.

Found another great game on there Anachronox, $6 (or $3 on sale).  Excellent RPG, but the original disk version didn't work on WinXP at all  (and sounds like even their fixed version has a few graphics issues)

Awesome game.  Absolutely hilarious, too.

There isn't one. Believe it or not, gog.com are actually one of the few remaining good guys.

Frell. I added it to my cart yesterday (at work) and forgot about it. Remembered this morning and signed in to download it, it's no longer free. Still $7.49, but dang.

Most of the other free ones (except one) are from the 90s or late 80s.  Mostly pretty good games, especially Ultima IV, but they are definitely old school.
