And by "putting consumers at risk" presumably "treating them like adults who can make their own decisions" is meant.

Gotta put in a recommendation for duckduckgo.  Google's search went downhill when they went corporate, and MS or Yahoo!?! aren't really any better.

Is "counterfeit music" really a thing?  Like I think I'm buying the new Gama Bomb album, but what I actually end up with is some low budget garage band performing all the same songs?

It absolutely is, for reasons mostly having to do with the record companies and their dicketry in one way or another.
