Not necessarily true at all. Making personal threats is not protected speech in VA.

I suspect the 105 pound waif was not making personal threats to inflict harm.

She sounds like she simply realized that what she did was wrong and instead of apologizing, game up with the first thing she could think of which was to call the cops and claim to be afraid.

I took a cab into DC.  The cabby was from Pakistan.  I was drunk.  He gave me a free pouch of crazy pakistan dip/ chewing tobacco he kept in his glove box.  I ended up accidentally throwing it up/ spitting it out on the WW2 Memorial in front of a lot of people who were horrified by my disrespect.  It was nice of him.  I have trouble not throwing up Skoal.

I don't know, my SO has to travel internationally for work. The older relatives we have are the MOST WORRIED that he will certainly be killed by Muslims (most of his work is in the Middle East). He'll send a picture of a camel crossing on the road and they comment 'WOW, dirt roads, it must be really terrible there'. and then I write back 'because we don't have any dirt roads here out in the country of Missouri.' (plus the road won't even be dirt, it just has some sand on it- it is just like they are looking for the worst possible thing so they can prove to themselves how SCARY other places are)

Young people all know Muslims (and i live in the Midwest where we are like 10 years behind and things are not very diverse), and realize that just because they are Muslim doesn't change their main concerns about going to school, making money, hanging out with friends.

jst3p: McLEAN, Va. (AP) -- For the second time in as many months, a Muslim civil rights group is pursuing criminal charges on behalf of a taxicab driver who was subjected to an anti-Islamic rant caught on tape.
In the most recent case, an Ashburn, Va., woman unleashed a string of expletives and called 911 to report that she was afraid for her life because she said her cabbie, Abdikar Aden of Alexandria, was "very Muslim."
Aden says the woman also poked him repeatedly in the back of his shoulder, though that part of the confrontation was not captured in a recording provided to The Associated Press.

Criminal charges because she said some mean things about you? I think she is an idiot but that isn't a crime.

That's a little high, more like 0.5/10.  Half a point due to getting their current iteration of the religion correct.  What most people don't even bother to learn is that during the dark and middle ages, when christian Europe was dancing around with swords and killing mass quantities of the populace, the muslim nations were the largest centers of learning on the planet.  Their literacy rates were astounding for the time.  Even the European nobility was rarely literate on a functional level.  Granted, both sides had their unwashed masses, and women on both sides were little more than property, but given that, the advances in the sciences and math were astounding.

Granted, but what useful inventions or advances have come from Islamic society in the LAST two hundred years?

Anything good enough to counter all the suicide bombing and ass-hattery?

Sikhs do wear turbans all the time (I think), but when Hindus have important ceremonies like a Hindu wedding the guy is usually wearing some kind of head covering. Or maybe if they were just dressing up they'd wear some kind of head covering. (for example, I wear a dress on Christmas and I'm not a Christian. weird.) Muslims might also have different head coverings that might not really tell you anything about them. That said, there are a variety of head coverings people wear and they don't all necessarily mean a person is a certain religion at all.

Southern personal racism has nothing on Northern personal racism
Northern personal racism has nothing on Detroit personal racism

/With some justification (not enough).  Nearest majority-black cities are Detroit, Pontiac, and Flint, and they're all basket cases.  Combine that with the massive segregation (meaning that the only black people a lot of these people see are the idiots on the TV), and they think "Wow, every black person I've seen is lazy and stupid and a thief (because they're the idiots who end up on TV), therefore all black people are that way"
//Mind you, when the 10% Indian, 10% black school has every AP class have the one (same) black kid and about a third to a half Indian kids (except English, which was almost nothing but white girls), that also has an effect.
///No seriously, where were the black kids hiding?  By and large, they weren't in band/choir (25% of the school), they weren't in AP/Honors classes (half of the school), they weren't in languages (Another couple hundred kids), so where were they?  Ok, so maybe 3 of the 4 black kids in my Biology class, the first Honors Science track class, failed out (1 for the 4th time as a 5th-year senior), but still.  You can't expect me to believe they're ALL that stupid.

Want to know the real difference between Muslim extremist and Christian extremist? Balls. Yeah, I said it. There are more Muslims who have the balls, or the faith/mental illness, to act on their words and threats. Republicans think that abortion is murder and that there are babies being killed everyday by Godless heathens...so they write an op-ed piece, picket a clinic, or repeatedly vote for idiots who will continually bring anti-abortion measures up for a vote knowing that it will never pass. Muslims don't like something? Your ass is gonna feel it. You disrespect GOD or steal from someone, you get whats coming to you.

What you all don't realize is that there are MANY peopl ein the Middle East who share your distain for these atrocious acts and the religious fundamentalism that justifies them. Full disclosure, I work for a television station that broadcasts news exclusively to the Middle East. We have shows on everyday which focus on the other side of these conflicts and the toll that they take on the people. The Arab Spring isn't just about different groups of barbarians duking it out to see who will get to make women wear the least revealing clothing. Its about men and women being fed up with how their government represents them and disregards their interests. The other day a young boy in Syria was killed by three men after he refused to give them coffee from his coffee stand on credit. When they asked, he told them "No one will get coffee on credit. Even if the Prophet Mohammed came down from Heaven, he could not get it." They tortured and killed him for blasphemy. Do you think the father and mother of this child support this kind of barbarism? His brother? His cousins? Do you think that anyone other than those in control, would choose to live life under these conditions? Many of these people are victims and they come to America for a chance to live without the fear of being kidnapped and murdered for blasphemy. But, bigots who associate them with the very people who they have escaped from are victimizing them, again.

So "Assault" on muslims is now just saying you don't like them? I guess critiquing the behavior of a specific group when specific group has a trend of being violent intolerant assholes is "violence" against them..

Which would explain why they think real violence is alright to do to everyone else, since they obviously have no clue what the word violence means.

LL316: And this was mainly in Royal Oak, MI.  A slightly less gay/liberal version of San Fran.

Michigan (or at least the sprawling Detroit metro) seems somewhat unique, in that it's overwhelmingly liberal/democratic, remarkably racially & religiously diverse, and almost entirely segregated. It seems to result in a particularly casual version of racism. From what little I know, it sounds like the DC area is somewhat similar.
