darth_badger: And what is the price for mutilated monkey meat?

Probably less than the going rate for lacerated lizard lips.  It's not nearly as labor-intensive to harvest.

Why bother?
That's only $250 per ton.

$0.12.5 per pound.

what about panda ears... I've been hearing things about the healing properties (erections, penis lengthening) of panda ears and that they are quite rare... do these people have any contacts that could maybe get me in touch with someone with, you know, some panda ears?

They sell them at sporting events along with things like larks' tongues, wrens' livers, chaffinch brains, jaguars' earlobes and wolf nipple chips

Are there actually jurisdictions that still have a bounty on gophers?  When I was a kid, you could get $0.25/tail from some ranchers for cleaning up their pasture land, but I haven't heard of anything like that in 30 years.

And be careful- the gophers fight back.

"With this in mind, Michael decided to reinvent himself as the Gopher Angel of Death."

"My first thought was that this seems like a bit of a waste of money for a local government.

My second thought was  HOLY CRAP WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING WITH MY LIFE?!

Does this mean that I could have been going on occasional gopher killing sprees to supplement my income or pay for a nice vacation? Or maybe I could have really gone all out and dedicated my life to mass gopher genocide, living a life of luxury while becoming a deadly legend anywhere that burrowed holes into the south earth were found."

LOL!

Reminds me of the Mepps fishing lure company. They used to shell out 3 dollars worth of Fishing lures for every Squirrel tail you could send in. They would also give you cash (although less of it) if you wanted, but I always felt that the lures were a better deal. If they still have that offer it will be advertised in Fur-Fish-Game.

I thought I knew most of the ADC people in this area. I guess I don't.

The reason they collect the feet is so the bounty can be paid for removing the gophers.

After the feet are collected, they are destroyed so someone can't dig them out of the trash and get paid for feet already paid for.

If you had to deal with the issues these critters cause, you would understand.

They still do this, but not 3.00 worth for each tail.

My concern is the cost/benefit ratio of his actions. At $3.00 per pair of feet, and the skyrocketing price of ammunition due to the DHS monopolizing all output recently, how much is he really making? At over $2.00 a shot, providing he uses quality ammunition (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/510248/nosler-custom-ammunition-308 -w inchester-125-grain-ballistic-tip-hunting-box-of-20), this guy is barely making any profit. He needs to find a more economical, "green" solution to the scourge of Gophers. Any prepper worth their salt (as he assuredly is, to have the wherewithal to stockpile that much ammunition) should have mastered trapping along the way. One cannot and should not rely on the Rifle alone.

I do some archaology on occasion. We had a problem with squirrels during the day getting into our tents and food at the campsite during the day while we were digging. They would chew off the tops of jars, the nozzles off big coolers, and other stuff. Mentioned this to the landowner(Clariant Corp). They must have, that winter(1999-2000) hired
a 13 y/o with a scoped .22, given him 1000 rounds of LR, and paid him by the tail or whatever. Anyway, after that  we did not SEE a squirrel down there for two years!  Never discount what a determined young teen with a scoped rifle and plenty of ammo can do!
