Nobody finishes a race upside down, backwards, and on fire, like John Force.

His daughter ain't hard to look at, neither.

I have nothing to add, really.

I just want to say: if you can't trust guys named "beerrun" and "tennessee.hillbilly" to tell you about some racin', then you really can't trust anyone.

Used to do some part time crew work on a couple of funny cars when they would do the west coast stops...at one of the races (Pomona 06-ish?) after Saturday qualifying had wrapped up, they had a charity auction in the pits where all the teams and sponsors showed up....basically just a reason to drink and hangout...one of the best times I ever had at a race was watching John Force and Gary Scelzi get absolutely HAMMERED at that auction and then get into a pissing match to see who could spend the most ungodly amounts of money on the items offered, all the while talking epic trash to each other.  At no point did it get "mean", just two friends busting each others balls and drinking LOTS of beer and Black Velvet...

Too bad he's 9th in points.

I loves me some drag racing.  It's a shame I never catch it on TV anymore.  I used to love watching Joe Amato, Kenny Bernstein et al. with my dad every weekend on TNN when I was a kid.

He's also up there in "Hot Daughters that drive race cars" as well

As is well known in most drag racing circles, it takes an extremely large bank account to be able to be your kids in public on Sundays.

I dig it as well, even though it breaks every "rule" I have about what racing is :)

If there was ever an event that really absolutely positively HAS to be seen live to appreciate, its drag racing.   Watching the look on someone's face when they see a top fuel car do a tire warm up is priceless.

The cars are still the fastest accelerating vehicles on the planet (0-100mph in less than 1 second), but there is a marked difference in them today with the 90% rule (nitro:methanol) compared to what it was when they could run 100% nitro....to stand on the line between two fuel cars as they leave the line is literally enough to knock you to the ground if you're not expecting it...

This is actually a disturbing trend that I see across motorsport as a whole, with the possible exception of motorcycle racing which I don't follow at all: there doesn't seem to be young talent out there any more, even at the local level. The winners at my local short tracks are almost always the same guys that were winning 10 years ago

Conspiracy theory time?

For short track racing (and it's ilk), getting the basic car now is pricier proposition than it used to be... you used to be able to strip down a car, and go racing.  It's a bit more expensive of a process now, because most modern cars aren't suitable for it under any circumstances.

Motorcycle racing in general is probably hampered by the fact that at least around here, there's far fewer places to legally ride, resulting in fewer dirt bikes being sold, hence less potential racers.

Roadracing has never been a poor mans sport to begin with, so...

Well those cars ARE funny, but, in case you're NOT joking, this is a John Force funny car:

Here's something that has vexxed me for years...Why is Danica Patrick held up as some sort of role model for girls, while Ashley Force, who is just as attractive, has a father that is famous in the same field, and actually WINS RACES, hardly gets a second glance? I just don't get it.
