Here is a fun fact:

If you want to order two beers in Germany with body language (specifically thy hand), start counting with your thumb. Germans dont think that the index finger is the starting point. They will give you three beers instead of two.

Now someone needs to make an app that explains how to pronounce the names of all the imported breweries and styles that intrigue me on beer menus, but which I rarely order because I can't say "Höhenzöeller Dreimalweißeisbier".

Is there really 59 languages common enough for a traveler will encounter? Do I really need to know Swahili or Yiddish?

So I told that bartendin' lady the only three words I needed to know were "Bud", "Wise", and "Er".

I've been to a lot of non-English speaking countries and I've been far from the touristy areas, and I've never had a problem holding up 2 fingers and saying "beer".  It works every farking time.
