tenpoundsofcheese: Giltric: tenpoundsofcheese: Let's see what the autopsy report says...if they release it.

"drunk/high and driving 100 mph on a residential street is no way to go through life a telephone pole"?

where did the 100mph come from besides that "witness".   A little convenient that he was watering the street around the time that this happened and he doesn't speak English that well.

Little known fact: Asphalt requires moonlight to grow. Which is why they don't water it during the day.

Gyrfalcon: I'm not given to crazy conspiracy theories, but I've NEVER seen a street crash like that. Freeway crashes, yes, but never a surface street crash. Any of our resident medics know more than me? Cuz that looks like there was an accelerant involved.

I bet they find evidence of gasoline.

In addition to his work as a contributing editor for Rolling Stone, Hastings also reported for BuzzFeed. He leaves behind his wife, the writer Elise Jordan.

I look forward to Buzzfeed's followup listicle, "27 SEO optimized quotes about Michael Hastings"

This couldnt have been an accident, he jumps over a median an crashes into a tree?
This was an assassination.
-----
Perhaps the car was taken over by remote control.
Or, they slipped him a timed release drug that caused him to go unconscious.
-----
I know the Obama Administration did not like him. We will have to see how many other notable journalists start mysteriously dying.
-----
He was quite an outspoken critic of the Obama administration and Rahm Emanuel. Wonder what he was investigating recently and more importantly, what he found out.
-----
Single-car accidents, falls from several stories, suicides, and heart attacks by otherwise healthy people are a hallmark of wet work.
-----
False flag operation!
They paid an actor to impersonate Hastings and blew up the car with the actor still in it.
Hastings was the guy who brought down Stanley A. McChrystal three years ago. He was the neocons' man on the inside, and they never forgave him for getting caught.
Now that he's 'dead' they can do what they like with him...

That doesn't look like an accident.
Looks more like a controlled demolition using nano-thermite.

VictoryCabal: If it happens in a car instead of a plane, is it still called "getting Wellstoned"?

No, if it's a car, it's "getting deaded".

Fenrisulfr: Good.

My sympathies for his family and all, but Gen  McChrystal is a good and honorable man who took a bullet for his subordinates because this (yellow) "journalist" could not differentiate blowing off steam in a pressure cooker environment and real insubordination. Wonder if alcohol was involved in his  "accident"....

The General should never have accepted his 4th star - It was a setup for failure all along.

/ Cannot confirm or deny I worked for him or his command

And McChrystal is still out of a job.
Which is good.

Lsherm: That miller lite bottle in the video was probably apropos of nothing.   Journalists don't like to drink.  It clouds their judgement.

I really, really hope this is sarcasm I didn't catch. Every journalist I've met loves to drink.

Just like Bipp, Skragg and Dripp, he served his country by helping Mitt Romney get elected.

Highland isn't really a "fast" street. I guess at 4:30am there weren't many people on the road, and for whatever reason he decided to drive really farking fast. Getting a Mercedes to throw its engine a half a block down the road, and explode into flames, isn't an easy thing to do.

Probably granny shiftin not double clutchin like he should. He's lucky that hundred shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake.

He's dead.  I don't know if there's anyway you can consider him "lucky."

Dammit.  Now I have to go over to the gun boards to see how 0bama caused this, or if this is just an addition to the Clinton Death List or what sort of -GHAZI this is.

Dammit.
