Stone Meadow: Dude, it's a thousand miles east of Moscow in the exact middle of nowhere. Who cares?[img.fark.net image 600x600]
Oldiron_79: MrHappyRotter: This is God's punishment to Russia for it's treatment of gays and restrictions on their human rights.LOL you believe in sky wizards.
ski9600: TommyDeuce: Second video seems to be about 2 miles from the blasts.I was thinking the 13 minute video was about 7 seconds away. So 7 miles?
2xhelix: Hmm, I wonder if by any chance the ammo was destined for Syria./tinfoil hat time
demaL-demaL-yeH: 2xhelix: Hmm, I wonder if by any chance the ammo was destined for Syria./tinfoil hat timeSoutheast Russia on a river? That's a tributary to the Volga and has a canal over to the Don and the Black Sea?Nah.
Dadoody: Luckily most of my ammo comes from Tula or izhevzk. And I think I have enough 7.62x39 for now.Hopefully my 7.62x54r supply is uninterrupted.
demaL-demaL-yeH: Dadoody: Luckily most of my ammo comes from Tula or izhevzk. And I think I have enough 7.62x39 for now.Hopefully my 7.62x54r supply is uninterrupted. What? They're manufacturing Nagant ammo now?Have you run into cartridges that don't have Berdan primers?
tinfoil-hat maggie: You boys puzzle me sometimes.
demaL-demaL-yeH: tinfoil-hat maggie: You boys puzzle me sometimes.Moisin-Nagant was the main Russian battle rifle from before WWI until the AK was adopted after WWII.It is still in use. Heavy, bolt-action rifle. Kicks like a mule. Lighten the rifle and it kicks even harder.Blasts a good meter worth of flame out the muzzle. The standard Russian 7.62x54R cartridges use Berdan primers, which have two main disadvantages:1) They're corrosive, so you have to clean the rifles obsessively.2) You can't reload the brass because the primer weakens the cartridge by changing its chemistry. The rifles are cheap as dirt (under $200), accurate enough, and aren't terrible game rifles./Give me a .30-30 or .30-06 any day.//And the Russians still use the Nagant's 7.62x54R cartridge for sniper rifles and machine guns.
BravadoGT: The Russian ammo is the only kind you see to be in regular supply in stores these days. I suppose that will dry up now too.I blame explObama.
jehovahs witness protection: Will America counter this by accidentally blowing up some of our ammo destined for Syria?
MythDragon: With all that ammo going off, how were thousands of people not shot and killed by bullets flying for miles everywhere? This is why ammo should be stored underground, so that a bullet doesn't fire and travel 3 miles down the road and hit some kid.
Crewmannumber6: This is why the Russians will never be defeatedRussian #1: Holy shiat, look at that explosion!Russian #2: A lot of people must have been killed in that.Russian #3 HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! That's funny, let us go back to kicking our futbol and later drink much vodakRussians # 1 & 2: HA HA yes! W e should do that!
cleofus: Just because a round is Berdan primed doesn't make it corrosive, just as a Boxer primer doesn't mean its non-corrosive. It is the priming compound that determines whether it is corrosive or not. All that Berdan means is that the anvil is part of the cartridge case. Most new Russian ammo (Wolf, Bear,Tulammo, etc) uses a Berdan primer and is noncorrosive. Also Berdan cases, both corrosive and non, can be reloaded, its just a more difficult. Also you have to wash the cases that had corrosive primers to remove the residue. They don't change the metal composition, just cause rust on form on steel.
garandman1a: Just adding to the ammo shortage here. Therefore I have to blame Bush.
