The Russian ammo is the only kind you see to be in regular supply in stores these days.   I suppose that will dry up now too.

I blame Obama.

I was thinking the 13 minute video was about 7 seconds away.  So 7 miles?

Dear Bashar al-Assad,

Shipment of your recent order of thirteen million shell units has been delayed due to unforeseen problems at the warehouse.

Sincerely yours, Vladimir Putin

Putin has just banned smoking in public places. Where would you light up one if you were guarding an ammo depot, huhh?

Oh man, nobody has ammo accidents like the Russians.

Good call on the Syria link.

Lessee here:  "Couple million AK rounds from 1973 destroyed, Couple hundred thousand landmines from WWII, whole bunkers full of rusted-through 500 lb bombs we were too afraid to touch, and also fifty brand-new SA-300 air defense batteries including spare parts to last a decade, and two thousand brand new RPG-29 rounds which exploded so forcefully there was nothing left behind at all."

The first thing I thought of was which conspiracy would be first thrown out, I thought it would be some Russian politician saying this was an American plot.

I'll bet none of the gun nuts have mentioned how much ammo costs in this thread.

That would just be stupid of them and there are no stupid people on Fark.

If "Destroyed in Seconds" taught me anything, it's that when a chemical or armament factory catches on fire in a place with less strict safety standards than the US (and sometimes even in the US!) you should run like hell and never look back, and if your house is in the same town, let it go because it's gone.

If I were I firefighter...I would be sick today. Ammo plant & fire no way!

Actually, if the handful of websites I've seen are meaningful, the price of the stuff that I buy has gone down to the point where it was at the start of the Great Panic, the exception being 22LR which costs about twice what it should and is still like hen's teeth.

Because generally accidents never happen during inopportune times?

Probably no conspiracy.  The Russias are hardly known for their quality control in anything, except maybe their gulags.  I would not be surprised if some drunk employee started a fire to stay warm or cook some food.

Love RT and comments there.

Better source:
"Five artillery projectiles exploded at a range near Chapayevsk, the Samara region, at about 7:30 p.m. Moscow time."
http://rbth.ru/news/2013/06/18/four_hospitalized_amid_explosions_at_ mi litary_range_in_samara_region_27218.html

MOSCOW, June 18 (Itar-Tass) - More than 30 people have asked for medical help after a series of military test ground explosions in the Samara region, a spokesman for the Zaschita center of emergency medicine told Itar-Tass.

Fark is great training for comments sections.  Your mind becomes prepared.   You know the trolls will be out in force; you know folks will try to draw politics into every discussion; and you know that the ignorance of some people is downright frightening. You understand that the unholy mix of anonymity and a soapbox inevitably spawns faceless assclowns representing the nadir of humanity.  THAT SAID, nothing prepared me for the comments section of that link.  I'm going to go home now and add another concrete layer to my survival bunker before taking a long, hot rape shower.

Yeah.  The world's biggest fireworks show, albeit unattractive ones.

Yeah, with something like this there's no such thing as meaningful firefighting.  Put lots of distance between you and the boom.

The one I checked on looked more like 9 seconds and change - trying to time from the start of the flash.
