If you were a chick in 1978 attending a Springsteen concert in Phoenix, and were captured on film tackling Bruce on stage as immortalized in the legendary Roaslita music video, hopefully you realized a long time ago, what an over-hyped, boring act Springsteen is; and will have the good sense to sue this asshole, for being linked to this musical turd.

I'm no Springsteen devotee, but you're an idiot if you can't recognize he is great at the one thing he does.

In 1978?  No... not 1978.  I'm pretty sure of that.

Not a fan of his latest stuff, but from '75 to '85 there was no one better.

Breaking news: there is a parallel universe where the Rosalita music video is legendary.

2013-06-18 11:20:01 PM
I saw him on this tour, probably a few weeks earlier or later. Absolutely incredible.

This. Took my lady to an E Street Band show. She didn't want to go, and can't stand my old Bruce albums ("hey honey, check this out: it's called 'Wild Billy's Circus Story'." "I hate you."). Afterward, she said "I still don't like him, but he does put on a hell of a show."

I'm not a big fan either, but 35 years later it's one of the most amazing things I ever saw. I've never seen him again, either.

It just couldn't be any better than what it was.

Most of Springsteen's work was done when I was either a toddler, child, or adolescent. Then he continued into my adulthood. The man has been with me all my life, and I will always be a fan of The Boss.

And you know what? Fark all of you. The man is a great artist. And his original band just smoked it.

/what's the average cost of a ticket for an artist that plays almost non-stop for 3 hours?

I saw Bruce last November and this is still happening. He and the entire band absolutely KILLED, too.

Sorry to reply to myself, but this guy is in his 60s and STILL schooling your ass. He was at Jazzfest last year and completely burned the place down. I didn't make that particular show, but by all accounts it was almost a riot when the old man finally had to stop playing.

Dude, it's The Boss.

Calling a hack writer a journalist when he/she works for the free publication called "New Times" is a stretch, if not an insult to actual journalists.

Clutch shows are usually about twenty bucks.  The ridiculous 4.5 -6 hour "Evening with Clutch" tour from a few years back cost me $28, iirc...

Mainly to my ear drums. The Boss of shiatty music.

I've seen the Boss a few times live and he NEVER fails to put on a great and epic show. He does a lot more than just stand there and musically grimace while playing his instrument like so many bands these days do. He's really great at getting the audience into the show and takes them along for a ride. I even got to meet him and he's a humble and appreciative dude. He knows the only reason he's successful is because the fans always come out to see him and he makes sure he lets us little guys know he does it all for us.

I got nothing but respect for Bruce and his music.

I love his early stuff.  Post 1985 though, ugh.  Especially today, he's become a caricature.  And having 40 people on stage with you does not make it better, it just makes the stage more crowded and the music more muddled.

2013-06-19 04:16:57 PM

thesharkman: Wasn't there a Springsteen show where he yelled at a woman and broke up with her on stage?

Yeah, he had been out on the lake earlier that day and he saw his girlfriend watch another girl drown and not even try to help her, so Bruce wrote a song about it and programmed the drum machines and debuted it at the concert that very same evening.
