some worthy names on that list. some unworthy ones, too. the raconteurs are great - especially their second album.

Funny, I was wondering why that list didn't have any hair metal bands as one of the Worst Bands Ever, then on the side I see they have a Top 20 Best Hair Metal Bands Ever. Idiots.

For those who want their lists as quick and opinion free as possible:

20. Spin Doctors
19. The Raconteurs
18. Oasis
17. Phish
16. 4 Non Blondes
15. Pretty Ricky
14. Foreigner
13. Wings
12. Fleet Foxes
11. Red Hot Chili Peppers
10. Pussycat Dolls

8. Hootie & the Blowfish
7. Pearl Jam
6. Black Eyed Peas
5. Animal Collective
4. Sex Pistols
3. LCD Soundsystem
2. Eagles

Not a bad list, I guess. But it seems more like a 'Bands That Were Most Overexposed When The Author Was In College' list than a true worst bands of all time list.

That's a hilarious list. I disagree with two of them and am meh on a bunch of others, but a lot belong there.

I was going to say, "Looks like the Top 20 worst bands of all time" were all born during the authors' lifetimes (it takes a village of douchebags to write this much douchebaggery, apparently). Coincidence? Or maybe they should all die horrible (but natural) deaths so music can stop sucking?

I hate a lot of these bands but I don't go around being a c*nt about it. I'd rather hang out with any of these musicians than anyone who had a hand in writing this.

20. Spin Doctors - Meh, two pretty OK pop songs.
19. The Raconteurs - No, they rock.
18. Oasis - Not my thing, but apparently all of the UK disagrees
17. Phish - If jam bands aren't your thing, fine.  But you can't really judge them, then.
16. 4 Non Blondes - They had one hit and one album.  Please.
15. Pretty Ricky - No idea what a Pretty Ricky
14. Foreigner - There are far worse stadium rock bands, so no.
13. Wings - You forgot "Maybe I'm Amazed".  And, again, no.
12. Fleet Foxes - No idea who they are
11. Red Hot Chili Peppers - They've gotten repetitive lately, but looking at their body of work... again, wrong.
10. Pussycat Dolls - Maybe.  But simple pop is simple pop, and there's a place for it.
9. Rush - Yeah, now you're just trollin'
8. Hootie & the Blowfish - Meh.  Never thought they were great, but 8th worst?  Shut up.
7. Pearl Jam - Ha!  Wow, now you're just trying too hard
6. Black Eyed Peas - Ok, fine
5. Animal Collective - Never heard them
4. Sex Pistols - They weren't trying to impress anyone with their musical ability.
3. LCD Soundsystem - Never heard them
2. Eagles - Ok, whatever Lebowski.  Bzzzzzt.  Try again.
1. Dave Matthews Band  - Ok, fine.

I used to drink beers with hootie and the blowfish before they hit it big...
they used to play a small local charlotte bar called Jack Straws back in the early nineties....

That album is missing their two biggest hits, 'Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter', and the eternally hated 'I'm Henry  the Eighth I Am'. How the fark does that qualify as a greatest hits album when it's missing their hits??

Missing from the list in question:

Nickelback
Creed
Milli Vanilli
Twisted Sister
Jefferson Starship
The Bee Gees

Come on, man!

You want a real American Horror story? Sit in the back of an SUV with off-key sorority house members singing along to Dave Matthews Band. "Dave" is a jam act with no jams. They make Perrier seem vibrant and ethnic. Dave Matthews croons like Kermit with a hangover, for a presumed intended audience of trustafarians and frat bros bonding via hacky sack and horseshoes. Them, and folks whose favorite book is The Da Vinci Code and favorite TV show is Two and a Half Men. They are permanently beige, the sonic instantiation of Ambercrombie & Fitch cargo shorts, South Carolina Gamecocks hats, and flip-flops flailing. -Jeff Weiss

Oh god, that was perfect.

The bit for The Racontuers was about as spot-on as it gets.

2013-06-18 06:37:10 PM
Foreigner wrote some of the worst songs possible.  Based on their releases, someone thought of one good line for a song, no one could think of anything else to add to it, so they'd just repeat that line over and over and over.  For example, "Cold As Ice".  Why was this shiat given so much air time?

PainInTheASP: They forgot Primus.

CSB:

Back in college, I worked on a political campaign, and while going door to door with the campaign manager, he noticed a "PRIMUS SUCKS" sticker on somebody's car.

"Doesn't that piss you off?" he said.

(He knew I was a Primus fan.)

I told him no, and then explained it to him.

/Have a PRIMUS SUCKS sticker on the beer fridge in my garage.

We're posting quite POPULAR BANDS and saying they suck! (with the exception of #15):

MAXIMUM TROLLING!!!

I liked Four Non Blondes, but I guess that's because I'm just a fan of silly hats.

I thought the band responsible for the so-called worst cover ever should be #1?

I find their lack of Hanson disturbing.

For the record, I like The Eagles and The Big Lebowski.

18. Oasis

They may have generated more drama than music but I still dig their first album. "Supersonic" and "Cigarettes and Alcohol" are both great songs.

scottydoesntknow: No Creed or Nickelback? Really?

Two very excellent points.

2013-06-18 06:42:40 PM
Pretty sure the entire article is a troll.  Another one is the greatest MUSICIANS of all time, regardless of genre.  It features such luminaries as Biggie Smalls, Madonna, as well as the number one of all-time, William Hung.

The reason?

Truly great musical talents aren't often heard. You won't find one every year, or even every generation. In fact, whole millenniums tend to slip away without one surfacing. No, certain talents only come along once in human history, and that's the case with William Hung. He is the greatest musician of all time -- in any genre -- because he epitomizes our highs, our lows, and our struggles to make ourselves heard. He's history's best musician because he speaks for anyone who has ever sought a stage, because he expresses life's complexities better than anyone else. That, and because these types of lists are entirely subjective and unaccountable. -Ben Westhoff

At least the underlined part is true.

2013-06-18 06:42:46 PM
Sorry folks, but Pearl Jam isn't very good.  Ten was great, except for the last two or three songs.  Vs. Had a good first four or five songs.  State of Love and Trust and Breathe were pretty good.  Pretty much everything after that has been passable or not very good, defended only by the cult that surrounds the group.

And I do appreciate Eddie Vedder's screams, but let's be reasonable.  Half the time, he mumbles, the other half he sounds like he's trying to shiat.

\and he also released a ukelele album

That's what I was thinking.  The Peal Jam commenter even mentions 'concern trolling'  these farkers know exactly what they're trying to do.

And I clicked the stupid article.

I'm with ya.  Also Seven Mary Three, or any similar bands who were trying way to hard to be Pearl Jam, Jr.

As well, this dude was apparently not around during the hair metal era of the late 80s/early 90s... Warrant, Trixter, Firehouse.

/Is this where I sheepishly admit that I went to a Warrant, Trixter, Firehouse triple bill concert?

Ah, don't pick on Starland.  What's not to like about a song about getting a nooner. :)

What?  That's... that's the least right thing I've ever heard.
