FTA:

"anyone who was at the international terminal or baggage claim in the main terminal June 7 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. could have been exposed to the virus"

That would be the length of time it took the passenger to clear immigration and Customs.  The lines at Dulles since the sequester have been an embarrassment.  Even the Real People Line (aka US Citizen) has taken 90 minutes to two hours.  The Give Us Your Tired, Your Hungry, Your Poor, Your Measles Line is more like two to three hours.

I have my MMR.   The relationship between vaccines and autism seems to be based more on a loser definition of autism.   With that being said, i would avoid flu vaccines.

I sort of wish we still could get vacinated for smallpox.  That's some scary stuff.

2013-06-18 05:35:46 PM
Well crap. I was in the baggage claim of the main terminal in that time window, along with some family, including a 2 year-old who'd only gotten the first MMR vaccine (the second isn't until you're at least 4).

Time to arrange for some doctor's visits.

A while, it takes the immune system a long time to recover from measles, and a good chunk of them may die before they get here to post.

Possible.

It's amazing that they are repeating exactly what happened when Wakefield initially released his bogus claims, so short a time after the last measles outbreak.

How much more clearly do you need to see "Less vaccinations = More measles"?

I was all over Dulles between the FBO and the Udvar-Hazy center form Friday to Sunday but not the  customs clearing area.   There really isn't any such beast as the "International TERMINAL" at Dulles.   You either come in on the mobile lounge to CBE's lounge dock or you go through the cattle chutes through to the same area.

Oh crap! I'm 65 years old and never had measles...we didn't have MMR vaccines back in the day...guess where I was recently?  :-/

Wrong. If you actually fly in from overseas, you are separated from the other flying cattle from the minute you touch down at IAD on an international flight. Customs Clearance is in a different location entirely. The international terminal according to FAA (as in the first time you set your foot on US soil) is located on D Concourse, sometimes C Concourse. That's why they call it a terminal. You cannot walk into the actual gate areas. Measles person was on my flight. You are talking about where you pick up your bags and relocate them for your final destination, but anyone on that long-haul flight was exposed.

Not to mention: Udvar-Hazy isn't even attached to the airport. But yeah...you know how to spell Udvar-Hazy. And you've never flown an international flight. But, hey! Go for it!

So, no. Wrong. And you missed the umlaut.

You can make that assertion but it's not true.  C and D are no more an "INTERNATIONAL" terminal than anything else.   They just have a seperate cattle chute that connects the jetway down to the path to customs.    All the gate agents have to do is flip the door and the exact same jetway is connected to the "US side" gate area.

Not to mention: Udvar-Hazy isn't even attached to the airport. But yeah...you know how to spell Udvar-Hazy. And you've never flown an international flight. But, hey! Go for it!

Mr. Udvar-Hazy is hazy is Hungarian and does not use a Umlaut in his name.   His name is properly spelled with a single acute over the a in Hazy, but the center does not use the accent.   And you demonstrate your complete lack of knowledge of IAD by your statement.   The Udvar-Hazy center is entirely located on MWAA (that is Dulles) property.    I taxied from the Landmark FBO down taxiway Z, across the ramp at F, down Juliet to the end and through the two gates that separate Udvar-Hazy's ramp form the rest of Dulles's taxiway system.

Here's even video of it happening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdXpfdiawms

Part of the confusion is the existence of multiple immigration and customs areas at Dulles.  For connecting passengers, it's out in C/D terminal, underneath the gate area.   For passengers arriving into DC, you take the mobile lounges to the west end of the main terminal, where you have the international arrivals area.  It isn't its own terminal, but it can feel that way when you first get there.

Also, this is the stupidest who-knows-more-about-something-useless pissing contest I've seen on Fark in a while.
