(Entertainment Weekly)   Scott Buck on the final season of Dexter: "The trick of the show is that he's a likable serial killer. But we don't ever want our audience to forget that he is a serial killer and I think we take him on that final journey this season"   (insidetv.ew.com) divider line 66

Coiled Hot 1: ontariolightning: Dexter is on the run and ends up in Harlan Kentucky for an epic showdown with  Raylan Givens .

That would be awesome. Advantage Raylan. Never bring a knife to a gun fight.

Dexter has mastered the art of the ambush though.

pat34us: banshee612: Spoiler........

Ready?

According to IMDB (I know, I know, but just saying) the last episode is called Gallows.... If he didn't die off, I would love to see a few stand alone movies or the series have a spinoff...

I vote spinoff, they end the series 7 years in the future with a neighbor asking Harrison if he has seen their dog..........Fade to black

As long as not a single person involved with the craptastic five-years-in-the-future finale of Weeds works on it, ok.

SandmanEsq: Doakes was innocent and a cop as well, and Dexter made it out of that ok.  I do, however, agree that they cannot just walk away scott-free, makes for bad story-telling.

Bad guy can't win. It's a morality tale. One way or the other - he's gotta go down.

I know how it should end : he either dies in a boating accident or of the flu.

And Deb becomes a Mormon.

SandmanEsq: Rawhead Rex: It will end when Dexter kills Debra or vice versa...or when they both farkin die.

That is how it shall be. That is how it must be...

Remember, they killed LaGuerta...she's a cop, an innocent...

Karma/fate will make them pay for that...there will be no happy endings.

Doakes was innocent and a cop as well, and Dexter made it out of that ok.  I do, however, agree that they cannot just walk away scott-free, makes for bad story-telling.

Doakes was in a number of questionable shootings where he put himself in a position to kill bad people. He was similar in that way to Dexter.

Nah, she'd have to give up the coffee habit, along with the shiatload of prescription drugs that was in the preview for the upcoming season.

I love that guy.

I know it is predictable an even cliche, but I like the idea of Deb being the one who kills Dexter, either by the heat of a confrontation or in a deliberate execution.

Thematically, I think it makes the most sense.

/Last season was good when Firefly was on screen.
//4 still is the best.

In the books, Dexter notices that Cody and Astor also have the same "urges" as him, so he teaches them Harry's Code. Of course, that never happened on the show because some people would lose their sh*t.

IIRC, Harrison witnessed Rita's murder, so maybe he'll be screwed up like Dexter? A spin-off in 10 years or so seems likely.

Wish there was a Dexter/Dexter's Laboratory crossover. Big Dex teaches Lil' Dex how to keep Dee Dee out of his lab...permanently....

I think we're missing the obvious, Debra, not Dexter killed the cop chick. Dexter and Deb try to get it behind them and Deb's all effed up because she thinks that her doing that for Dexter is the ultimate sign that she is romantically in love with him. Dex has to keep her sane while at the same time deal with Hanna...eventually the cops close in on LaGuerta's killer (Deb) so Dexter decides to do the single act that he feels will redeem him for his family and son...he takes the fall for Deb and ends up executed with Deb watching in the viewing room crying.

Where's my cheque?

Well Debra knows the code, so if she lives she could pass the code on.

Yeah, that show.  Why do I watch it?  It's not that good, but drew me in anyways.

Because he's smarmy and she's hot, and their formula of always having 3 possible killers, and it's usually the one you didn't pick, but it's still ok because that kind of made sense.

He'll wake up in the hospital right after his car crash at the beginning of season 4. The head trama will have taken away his killer instincts and he'll be "normal"..... roll credits.

I was wondering that, too, but then I remembered in the season 7 finale he witnessed Quinn shooting that strip club owner and decided to help cover it up. Maybe this one could come back to bite them in season 8.

It shows how Batista's character has changed since season 1, when he going to rat on Doakes for shooting an unarmed man. Then later in that episode it was revealed the man had been on a Hatian death squad that Doakes had been after while in the military, so the government stepped in and quickly put an end to that subplot.
