We're talking about kidnapping.  Not a murder, not a murder.  We're talking about kidnapping.

Kidnapping is such an ugly word.  How about "surprise mandatory vacation"?

He's too broke to buy a cheeseburger at the drive-in in his Maybach.

So?

If I'm throwing an apple core into the trash while telling the reporter "I didn't eat an apple and an orange this morning", that's logically correct. Why is racist submitter assuming that black NBA players don't understand simple logic?

Earned 200 million in salary.  Too broke to buy a cheeseburger.  Guess I wasn't the only one dumping cash into that moon real estate venture...

"I ain't never treated fairly, don't expect to be," he added before driving away.

Agreed. Getting 200 mil to play basketball sure aint no fair.

There is no way I could possibly not predicted this name coming out of Georgia

Kidnapping and taking the kids in a custody dispute are two different things.  Also he should have holed up at a hotel in Orlando, then he could have used the just taking my kids to Disney defense.

The trick is, you gotta buy when the moon is waning not when it's full. Supply and demand, buddy.

It's not a custody dispute. She has sole custody. If its not his visitation, he has no rights to them and even if it is his visitation she can legally keep him from taking them out of state or any other sort of activity she objects to. This is why you only get sole custody if the partner really screws up or is stupid enough to sign it away in the divorce settlement.

"Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about practice. We're talking about practice man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice."

still practice huh Iverson?

In most states that is probably true, but in Georgia, the courts will view it as a custody dispute. Notice, he has not been arrested, if the children are not in danger, the kids will stay with him until a hearing in family court.

Thank you for this...

I have sole custody of my kids due to a huge screw up on my ex's part last year and his dad lives in Georgia. Useful to know the police wouldn't automatically be on my side if he decided to run off with them.

Not that I really have to worry about it, his dad wouldn't put up with that crap, but still, good to know.

He's got a $30mil trust set up by Reebok, but he can't touch it until he's 55.

So, I don't know...play cards in homeless shelters until then.

Yeah, he's a bit of a jerk and an idiot, but I'd like to see him get cleaned up, break free of the alcoholism and other shenanigans and become a productive member of society before he gets that $30m.

Wow fark, really late to the party on this one I see.

The Judge in the case said she (Iverson's ex-wife) is full of shiat and could have picked up the kids at any time:

You can't say fark is really late and then link to an article from today.

That said...

From your article: We're told Tawanna also testified that she could have picked up the children from Allen but didn't want to drive 45 minutes to his location. After A.I.'s testimony, the judge decided the former Philadelphia 76ers star didn't deserve to be thrown in jail - despite his ex-wife's request before the hearing.

Sweet Jesus. If my kids were 45 minutes away and I considered them kidnapped, you can bet I'd be there in half an hour.

This.

So ultimately what this comes down to is that a farked up man married a farked woman and they have children who are going to be farked up for life.  Wonderful.

Kidnapping sounds a bit harsh since they are his kids.  Their blood is his blood.  Their genes are his genes.  He didn't give them away.

No, the dumbest thing he did is think that he would be 25 forever.  He never improved his jump shot, never improved his passing game so that he could make a transition to point guard, never did any of that.  He apparently planned on being be a 5'11", 180lbs shooting guard with no jump shot for his entire career.  Once his insane speed left him, he sucked.

You make a compelling case.  But, I still think paying $350k for a tarted up  $65k Mercedes is in the running.

Actually, the dumbest thing(s) about him was his terrible attitude and how he demanded to be treated like a franchise player during the later stages of his career; that was what got him out of the league. There were many teams who offered him the position of a role player but he could never accept it. The truth is that now even if he develop a jump shot of Larry Bird and accepts a bench role, no team will be willing to give him yet another chance.

Same problem with a lot of these celebrities; doesn't matter if they're athletes, rockers, actors.  They're young and making gobs of money and they keep spending like they're going to keep that level of income forever.

I remember reading an article about him recently that told how broke he is. The ways he spent his money were just mind boggling. $25,000 at a hat store. Seriously. What a moran.

Yes, he'll get the Rebock money, but he will blow through that in no time.
