If the people of Virginia paid for the wedding, I think it's only fair they each get a turn with his daughter.

Wow. Looks like BobbyMac and his family would apparently bill the state for EVERYFARKINGTHING, and hope that they'd just blanket-approve the whole thing, rather than go line-by-line.

I wonder who pays for all that wasted civil-servant time.

// no, I don't - it's the same people that paid for your daughter's wedding, you thieving regressionist farkstain

If you liked Bob McDonnell, you'll love Ken "The Cooch" Cuccinelli. The same graft and cronyism, plus religious fundamentalism!

2013-06-18 09:37:16 AM
To be fair, Maddow said yesterday that it's pretty common for new governors to try and push the boundaries of what gets reimbursed.  Then again, they're not quite so flagrant about it.

actually if i remember right, the problem with his daughter's wedding was that a Virginia corporate executive paid for it.  And since it is Virginia McDonnell just came out and said 'there is no law against it'.  Putting him firmly in the Lawful Evil alignment. Also totally not a bribe.

A corporate executive who was allowed to use the Governor's Mansion for a product launch.

And one that McDonnell has passed targeted regulations and laws benefiting that company.  While it's under charges of state tax fraud.

Indeed.  Along with EW James, I don't think I've seen moderates and lefties so afraid of a state race before.  We were concerned about McDonnell, but he did seem to have some brains in him somewhere (that, and Deeds sucked).  But with Cooch ... yikes.

True. I should have said overt religious fundamentalism. McDonnell hid his well as a candidate.

Times like this make me wish Virginia governors could serve consecutive terms, because I'd love to see ole Bob answer these charges during a campaign.

So, what are the chances Cuccinelli can get elected?  And before anyone says: "No one that batshiat insane can get elected to a statewide office!!," may I point out Rand Paul got elected?

Quite good, unfortunately.  Never underestimate the stupidity of Republican voters and the complacency of Democrats and "independents" in midterm elections.

Polls since May 1 have Mcauliffe up 3- 5 points.  Cooch is heavily invested in the Star company, and also has had his own steady drip of bad press - siding with out of state energy providers over Virginia property holders and providing them legal advice at no cost for example, and it turning out that these firms were the largest contributors to both his campaign as well as the RNC that passed the money through to him

2013-06-18 11:44:54 AM
"CNX is owned by Consol Energy, a conglomerate that has given Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli more than $140,000 in contributions (almost all of them cash) since 2010. In fact, according to the Virginia Public Access Project, Consol Energy is the No. 1 contributor of corporate cash to the Cuccinelli campaign.

Only the Republican Governor's Association has contributed more money to Cuccinelli's campaign. And who gave that money to the RGA? Lots of it came from energy interests, including Consol Energy, which dumped $639,000 in the RGA in 2012 alone."

Depends on the SCotUS on gay marriage.  Seriously - If the Court supports gay marriage, Cuccinelli will win.  It's easier to get your side energized after a loss than after a win.
