Never said that did I? My point remains we are a speck on the planet that has been here billions of years and will be here a lot longer. The issue is we still have no idea why life formed and what precious variables have to happen for it to occur and what has to happen for it to cease.

What you're doing there.... is just stupid. You're making unfounded assertions, assuming that I don't know scientists (I know several), that my scientist friends and I have not had this discussion before, and that you simply know better. Money can be corrupt, but not science... there is occasionally "junk science" wherein people masquerade non-science around and pretend it is science for the purpose of gaining social/political change... but science itself is inherently pure. You can make mistakes, but the whole idea there is that we not only test hypotheses, but that we re-test them, that we constantly gain more data, and eventually understand not only that earlier mistake, but how to test more accurately based on an understanding of that mistake. The glorious thing about reality (and science) is that the truth does not depend on whether or not you believe in it... science is an ever-improving method for observing the world around us... to say that observation is corrupt is just... wrong... you're not a skeptic, you're a denier, an irrational, illogical, ill-informed denier of observable reality.

No, when I call someone who denies anthropogenic climate change a "denier" instead of a "skeptic," I'm calling a spade a spade.  Calling them a "skeptic" gives credence to their false narrative.  They aren't skeptics; in fact, they're the EXACT OPPOSITE of skeptics.  They are in fact DENYing science; hence the term "denier."

Now, if I actually called them "Nazis" or "worse than Hitler," THEN I'd be "going all Godwin on" my argument.   See the difference?

Advanced mathematics has research grants, scientific journals, debated results and all the other hallmarks of modern science.

Of course, this is not the math that is being used in studying AGW. In this case the math used is from the less theoretical fields like statistics and it is being used as tools to do the science. But when a scientist is using statistics to analyze data and generate models they are most certainly "doing science".

http://wattsupwiththat.com/climate-fa il-files/gore-and-bill-nye-fail- a t-doing-a-simple-co2-experiment/

Oh fark he did Photoshop it.

When you run his experiment, the jar with elevated levels of CO2 has a lower temperature than the jar with ambient air. For science!!!

Particularly when you put the elevated CO2 jar in the fridge to throw off the results.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas. Lab experiments demonstrate this. Chemistry confirms.

What is CO2's specific heat as compared to O2, N2, and water vapor?  The experiment was dumb.  CO2 cools quicker than 'air' because it has a lower thermal capacity (i.e., specific heat).  So, of course the jar of CO2 is going to get cooler quicker than the other jar.  However, the question then becomes, what makes CO2 a 'greenhouse gas'...its specific heat (which is lower than air), or some other property such as reflectivity?

Its absorption and transmission of EM radiation in the IR band. Water vapor and methane are other strong greenhouse gases.

What a surprise ... blatant lies from the likes of Hannity. Betcha he says that AGW is a leftist conspiracy as well.

From Wikipedia - the references are there:
He studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University (where one of his professors was Carl Sagan) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1977.
Nye began his career in Seattle at Boeing, where, among other things, he starred in training films and developed a hydraulic pressure resonance suppressor still used in the 747. Later, he worked as a consultant in the aeronautics industry.

Dadbart: "we are still at the point where idiot people are trying to make schools teach fantasy (intelligent design) "

Always wondered why many people think some aspects of religion and science are mutually exclusive. Genesis actually describes, in simplistic terms, the correct sequence of events as discovered by science. From Big Bang on. That was written long before science spelled it out. How did they know? Unless, of course, you subscribe to Ancient Aliens theories.

I'm sure that by now someone else has pointed this out but "NO IT FARKING DOESN'T!"

/and you'd have to be an idiot or a troll to say so.
