Actually it's worse, because they're blood. Siblings know more about you than any stranger bully.

Bullies eventually fade. Family stays with you for life. Like 'em or not.

Ah, sibling rivalry.  And you can't simply alter your route home from school to avoid it.

You say that like they didn't give back (in spades, in my brother's case),  subby.

That's why my parents had a third kid. They needed the car seat as a divider between us.

The article could have a point.  I know a woman who didn't wear shorts until she was in her 20s because she has a dimple on her thigh and her sister would tease her about it, which made her really insecure about her body on a whole.

The ironic thing is that the woman in question has a  great body.  The kind of body that makes men rubberneck when they walk past her on the street.

Luigi is better, anyway. How is he not? He's taller, thinner, and jumps higher. Why should that fat fark Mario get all the attention. fark.

My brother was a dick. He still is a dick, but he was a dick. We don't talk, by my choice. I suppose I'll see him again at my mother's funeral (don't know when, but she's in pretty bad shape), then likely never again.

A dimple in her thigh? That's gross.

It builds character. Kids today are pathetic.
This does  explain why so many people I talk to go away crying I guess.

I had two older brothers, my wife is an only child. When our two kids finally started getting into it she thought they were broken or something. It took a lot of reassuring to convince her it happens.

Not me but my little sister made my even littler brother dress up like a girl and have tea parties with her because we lived far away from other people and there were no other little girls in the neighborhood.

There are degrees and there is a difference between normal sibling rivalry and the occasional fight and actual bullying.

If there is actual bullying, then the parents suck at parenting.

My brother is now trying to repair this kind of relationship. He broke three of my ribs for my sixteenth birthday, threatened to have his friends rape me, and left me with constant bruises. Sometimes sibling rivalry goes way beyond bullying.

//Mom always said I was exaggerating, her way of not dealing with it, I guess.

I was an "only," so no making fun or "bullying."

However, my older cousin used to make me walk a tightrope in the backyard, nearly drowned me in the Chesapeake, "tickled" me until I vomited, and essentially made my life hell when we visited them.  :-/

Heads-up to older brothers/sisters with younger sibs: don't "make fun" of your brothers and sisters. It'll come back to haunt you.

Oh my, I don't remember my mom using them, hell the parents rarely know what was going on with us till the 80's and they had to be worried about drugs and satanism : )

Yeah, those things were pretty handy for corporal punishment. Hot Wheels also taught me skepticism; the ads showed those cars making the loop effortlessly. Once I had my own set, and the cars only made the loop about one time out twenty tries, it slowly dawned on me that they just kept trying until the cars made it, and then they showed that in the commercial. Liars!

I had a younger sister who spent our entire childhood driving me insane. Intentionally doing shiat that drove me insane. It wasn't even the sibling messing with each other stuff. It was things like smacking gum. The kind of sounds that were irritating make me irate at this point. I would get in trouble for even trying to do anything to retaliate. My parents wonder why we're not close.

I was pretty mean at times to my younger sister. Fast forward to grown up times though and we are best friends- she even moved 5 minutes down the street from me recently after we hadn't lived in the same town for about 6 years. :)

So yes, there is hope.

Jesus H. Christ.. This cannot be serious.

As the youngest of four, and an older brother who drove a golf ball into my face, helped me tear knee ligaments among other "sibling ailments," I am definitely calling bull shiat to this.  While he "picked" on me growing up, the tables turned when I got to high school and he became my practice wrestling dummy.  That being said, I cannot count the number of times he altered his weekend plans to shuttle me on dates and such.

Bottom line, no harm, no foul.

/stop being such p*ssies folks
