Oh boo hoo.  So he's put to one side.  The rest of those kids are going to die in seven days!

2013-06-17 05:16:52 PM
They see him rollin' they hatin'.

2013-06-17 05:17:28 PM
What, is going to climb to the top of the risers with his wheelchair?  The kid looks happy,  mommy.

2013-06-17 05:17:46 PM
This gave me the giggle fits, but not in the assholy way one is accustomed to with Fark. These jerks were just so blatant about it. There was a big empty space at the upper left where they could have moved the bottom right kids. One of those things that's so sad you either have to laugh or cry so I just got the giggle fits at the abbrasiveness and audasity of these failures of humanity.

2013-06-17 05:17:56 PM
You mean he's not the stereotypical center of attention and fawning in the class photo? We must make the disabled kid the most popular now!

2013-06-17 05:18:06 PM
first world problems.

At a minimum, have the teacher stand next to/behind the wheelchair kid, rather than as far away from him as physically possible.

No, it wasn't malicious - just an overly-anal artist type composing the shot, trying to make the group symmetrical with the risers.  They should have ignored the risers and moved the group over to include the chair, just as suggested.

2013-06-17 05:19:43 PM
I'm thinking he stands out a lot more for having a face than where he was put in the picture....just my opinion though

2013-06-17 05:20:11 PM
Ya, that's pretty mean.  And even if it's wasn't, the composition sucks; that looks terrible.

Diogenes: Oh boo hoo.  So he's put to one side.  The rest of those kids are going to die in seven days!

Lol.

2013-06-17 05:20:20 PM
Does seem a bit heartless.

2013-06-17 05:20:37 PM
Hey, they were gonna put a sheet over him.

2013-06-17 05:20:42 PM
I don't even know the kid and my heart broke a little.

2013-06-17 05:20:42 PM
How do you as a photographer look at that and think that won't be a problem and that it looks like a fine picture to take.

2013-06-17 05:20:56 PM
I bet he gets cropped out in the yearbook. A photographer should be some bikini babes in the event there are mechanized children.

2013-06-17 05:21:09 PM
What to do after someone posts an article about this kid being placed to the side.  Post an article about this kid being placed to the side.

It's still stupid of the school to do it.

Just wait for the follow-up in 10 years when they crown him Prom King.

I'm no photographer, but the whatchamacallit of that pic is all wrong.  I'm more offended by the composition than any PC bull.

2013-06-17 05:22:05 PM
I'd be pissed too.  My kids shouldn't have to go to school with freaks.

2013-06-17 05:22:16 PM
so take him out of his wheelchair for pictures

2013-06-17 05:22:34 PM
So this is considered news in Canada?

If they had just moved the kids over to the end of the bench, it would have been fine, but the photog wanted to center the seats.  The guy's rocket chair is pushed up against the bleachers as much as possible.

2013-06-17 05:24:32 PM
Oh for f*cks sake, where did she want them to put him? The wheelchair could only go to the side.

Uh, wut?

I like living in a world where a photographer making a stylistic arrangement choice somehow bespeaks discrimination on the part of the entire school.

I like even more that a newspaper -- presumably one whose very mission statement is to uncover the truth -- somehow devotes several column inches to an issue that deserves ZERO, and creates its own tempest-in-a-teapot.  One that is sure to attract the attention of lawyers.

I like everything about this article.  Stupidity and wanton greed made Fark what it is today.

Carry on, mighty warriors.

I'm seriously not seeing a problem. Its not like they stuck him BEHIND the bleachers. He's in a large mobility device, there is only so much you can do.

2013-06-17 05:26:40 PM
It's not like they pushed his chair down a hill into traffic...

2013-06-17 05:26:41 PM
Well, I am a photographer who has taken many class photos, and I can tell you this guy needs to find something else to do, if this is the best he could come up with. That photo is just pathetic.

2013-06-17 05:26:44 PM
Yes it is a malicious act obviously well planned out before hand with pure evil intent the day the photographer got his license , the photographer should be investigated in all the other pix. he took to see how many children he has shoved to the side. Also all his life savings along w/ all future income should be garnished as punishment.

2013-06-17 05:26:52 PM
What would Timmy say?

2013-06-17 05:27:27 PM
Should have put the teacher in a wheelchair on the other side for symmetry.

2013-06-17 05:28:02 PM
Okay, the outrage is just a little bit too much over this. I was expecting him to be waaaay over, not merely one foot away from the other kids.

2013-06-17 05:28:07 PM
If this mom is going to throw a hissy fit every time she feels her little wheelflake is being mistreated, that kid will have a tough life.

MyNameIsMofuga, That is exactly how I would have done it! How difficult was this for the photographer???

Just thinking in writing, but wouldn't it have made more sense to have kids stand behind him/aside of him, then have a row of kids on their knees, and then a row of kids sitting? Then he can be included in the picture without looking like a blotch.

2013-06-17 05:29:07 PM
The photographer is Canadian.  Give him a break.

But, I would also say that the kid is smiling, and looks happy.  He probably was, until his parents got all biatchy about this.

This is some how news? I'm glad nothing else happened on the planet today.

2013-06-17 05:30:50 PM
You know what? Although I'm all for ADA, this is just a little too much. The kid is part of a class; not the reason for the existence of the class. As such, he is merely one of 23 children in the class. As I don't see any voids in the riser in which to fit his hoverround, putting him on the side opposite the teacher should be just fine for balancing the photo. The real issue: the photog should have spread the kids out so as to not make him appear sequestered. But, when you're herding a class of ADD tricycle motors, just getting them to stay still for the 4 minutes it takes to arrange them all is a feat in its own right.

The kids looks happy and well-adjusted. Somebody must be doing something right.

Maybe the  other side?

This is a federally-mandated buffer zone. Handicapped car parking has a 4 foot wide blue striped area between his space and the adjacent white one.  It all evens out because for the rest of his life he will get rock star parking for bowling alleys, golf courses, Walmart and Chuckie Cheezes.
