Damn, fired from a cable tv show with Charlie Sheen. Doesn't get much worse than that.

I couldn't believe she stooped to being on that show honestly.  She's the only reason I ever stopped channel surfing for even a second on that turd.

Well, the article says he wants to hire Mila Kunis, so there's that.

I never understood why people watched the last show.  Does this one actually get ratings too?  I like and respect his work off camera, but the guy just does not make funny sitcoms.

I also want to hire Mila Kunis, but that is about as likely as Charlie Sheen being able to afford her for his cable show after her recent box office success with Ted and Oz. Sorry, Charlie, but she's A-list now.

Call me when Selma Blair signs on to a project with Mila Kunis. Preferably with lots of tongue.

An alarming majority of people, for the most part, are rather stupid.

I'm not prepared to say anything's impossible, but realistically, I would agree that you're right.

That said, I sincerely wish him luck because the sight of Mila Kunis on my TV screen is enough to make me stop channel surfing and settle in for the duration of the half hour.

I didn't mind Sheen on 2.5 men, sure he was just playing himself, but he seemed like he was having a good time with it, that is until the meltdown.

This new show though, I don't know what it is but it just feels like he's giving me the finger. Like he's saying "See pleb? While you work your ass off for almost nothing, I can drink, smoke, use every drug there is known to man and whore around like it's going out of style and they'll still give me a show...a show that lets me continually rub it in your face that I can do anything I want and get away with it all while being paid a stupid amount of money!"

It just irks me who in our culture is rewarded and for what.

That's too bad.  I thought her presence on the show was the only thing giving it cachet.  Well, that, and Martin Sheen's obligatory appearances.

That's what I mean. Joff has a temper tantrum and he kill's a hot piece of ass. Sheen has a temper tantrum and he fake fires a hot piece of ass. He lacks conviction.

Please tell us what strikes your funny bone? Clearly you're a god among men for deigning to be 'way too smart' for the most popular comedy in television history.

I don't watch the show either, but 2.5 men isn't better or worse than any other half hour sitcom.

It was so sad when they tried to make an American version of that.  There are examples of shows that get remade in the US and are successful -- Man About the House became Three's Company, for example -- but they Americanize the content.  The American Coupling was a word-for-word reshoot of the original and it could not possibly have been a worse idea.  Rena Sofer is a hottie and we found out Colin Ferguson is a great small-screen comedic actor.  Yet, the show was a thorough disaster.

I think it's also an example of how there's only so much actors can do if the script/idea/production team isn't good. The American version had Jay Harrington, too. With 20/20 hindsight from Eureka and Better off Ted, nobody would expect that he and Ferguson couldn't carry a TV comedy just fine, but the whole idea was poisonous from the get-go.

For those two in particular, perhaps it's the "lad" thing.  American doesn't have lads, yet half of coupling centered around three lads being lads.  Same goes with Top Gear, I think.  British Top Gear works because it's three lads taking the piss out of each other without managing to come off as a-holes -- in fact, it makes them oddly likeable.  American Top Gear is hideous because the stars can't pull off the "lad" act, hard as they try.

Good points. They did the same thing with "The IT Crowd"  - hell, they even brought over the same Moss! But it still didn't have a chance outside the pilot.

Life on Mars was an example where the gritty British side of 1970's history was watered down for American audiences...then the abrupt ending and needless LITERAL ending? Lol srsly wtf?

In addition, Jeremy, Richard and James all have some semblance of skill when it comes to driving (how much is debatable, but I digress) and appear to genuinely like cars.

As far as Top Gear USA's crew, Rutledge is an idiot who likely doesn't know dick about cars, and Adam couldn't give a shiat.  Tanner's the only one there who has skill and probably a genuine love for cars.  Unfortunately, he comes off as the biggest prick in the show, and not in the affable way that Clarkson does.  Plus, it is painfully obvious that Tanner's doing the majority of the driving in that show.
