(NHL)   It's the Stanley Cup Playoffs game three, from Boston tonight... Can the Bruins build off the game two win? Is it the Blackhawks' turn to prove home ice means nothing? What's the under/over on overtime a third time? Puck drops at 8ET(ish)   (nhl.com) divider line 22

My prediction- Game 3 is a blowout.

One of these teams is going to explode for 6 goals sooner or later. No idea which one though.

jaylectricity: You want to beat the Bruins? Play your game. Stop trying to outsmart the Bruins. It doesn't work.

That's what I kept thinking in the last series. The Pens tried to outwork the Bs, and that doesn't happen. It brought out Crosby and Malkin's frustration and made them look inexperienced. I dunno if it was a coaching call, and I know the players rallied around Bylsma, but I thought it was pretty bad strategy.

Do you have a better suggestion?

Subban, Datsyuk, H, Sedin to name a few.

Thought this was a troll, but Datsyuk saved it.

Trust me, it's a troll. That's what he does (masquerading as a she).

HoleChicken: Any Farkers in here from the Ithaca area? I'm going to be there for a wedding Saturday night and I need to have a plan to see whatever I can of that game once the wedding ends.

I guess channel will matter, too. If its on NBC, it's one thing, but NBC Sports could complicate stuff.

Ithaca is a Time Warner area and they have NBCSN on the basic package so any sports bar ought to be fine.

Polish Hussar: CBC reporting that the Ottawa Senators have called a press conference for tomorrow for a "major business announcement."  The rumor is that the naming rights to their arena has changed hands and that Scotaibank Place will become the Canadian Tire Centre.

They're also going to fire all building employees and replace them with high school dropouts.

(csb warning)

Well that was a vivid lesson in the value of procrastination.  My daughter was down at the library & needed a ride home.  It was shortly before the puck drop & I told her I would be down in a few.  However at the time I was trying to read through/catch up on the daytime hockey posts & another thread here.  So instead of racing out the door to get her & decided that she could cool her jets for a few minutes while I finished up Fark.  A couple of minutes later I finished up & went to get her.  Promptly after leaving my road I came upon a nasty three car accident that was so recent that the county sheriff wasn't there (half mile from their office) nor the fire dept (3/4 mile in the other direction).  Slowly making my way through the scene I called 911 & got out of there (there were already at least a half dozen cars stopped & 'helping' as much as possible - some were good, 2 guys directing traffic, a couple others at the wrecks seeing to the victims, & some were bad, one lady sitting in her car screaming & crying to someone on the phone... however she was right in front of me & in no way shape or form involved in anything.  She was doing her best to make it all about her though....).  I got out of there because the last thing the people who like to call themselves 'first responders' (actually as seen tonight they are secondary or tertiary but you'll never convince them of that...) need is a crippled old guy hobbling around & getting in the way (especially when even on a good day my average state of dress/out & about in public look is that of an accident victim.  I didn't want them thinking that my protestations that I was fine was just shock & shove me in an ambulance anyway....).

Very long story getting a little shorter.  By the time I cleared the area, got my daughter from the library & headed back, the entire local population of 'first responders' had descended upon the scene & managed to completely shut down this HUGE road (two lanes on each side, a bike lane on each side, & a turn lane down the center... a nice big wide road of which the accident filled up both southbound lanes & a small bit of the turn lane).  Every single one of those clowns who had a light bar on top of their vehicle must have completely lost their mind when they arrived there because they just abandoned their vehicles wherever it happened to end up after power sliding into the scene.  It was amazing, it was like this had never happened before & instead of leaving the far northbound lane open & alternating traffic through there (as was working just fine before they showed up), they shut down everything for 20-30 min & made everyone who couldn't turn around just sit there.  Simply incredible just how screwed up the 'professionals' were.

Anyway, long not quite so cool story bro reaching the end, I finally made it back near the start of the 2nd & gleefully watched both Boston goals while decompressing from the local events this evening.  But back to the original point about the value of procrastination - if I had left right after she called I could very well have been right in the middle of the metal crunching phase of the night's adventures....

(/csb warning)

So, how was the first period?  The 2nd looked pretty good.

But I don't have Cable, so I can't watch the Bruins. Even in Boston!!!! Can't they simulcast these games on NBC in Boston at least?

They really should do that. It's not like they're going to hurt attendance by doing that.

Did they make fun of him for being a hockey fan? Isn't that their usual response to hockey talk?
