Lolz. This team is actually pretty classy and might make for a boring Hard Knocks, but I'd love to see them knock off the aging Steelers and Ravens to win the North this year.

Much like the way they don't put normal, well adjusted people on daytime talk shows, they don't put successful, well run teams on Hard Knocks.

I would have thought it would be some "Apprentice style" business show with the formulaic way Mike Brown "runs" the team.

Why the quote marks? Running a team into the ground is still running a team.

The Steelers are old and a f*cking trainwreck so far. The Ravens are vulnerable after what happened in the offseason. It's not a huge stretch.

Because he doesn't run the team. He runs the office.

Aging Ravens?

Have you even looked at a roster lately?

I wouldn't worry about the Steelers too much. Ravens though, not sure if the Bungles can leap them yet.

Aging was implied for the Ravens with the way I put that sentence together, but I didn't mean it to be.

Just glad to see they're having one at all this year. And on a side note, I think NFL Network should buy the Hard Knocks franchise and that the NFL should require teams to appear. Team selection could be based on rotating between, say, 1) the best team (Superbowl winner) one year, followed by 2) the worst team, 3) middle of the pack, etc, with exceptions to prevent teams from having back-to-back appearances. You'd get different teams each year, all in very different situations.

I take back my indignant questioning of your knowledge in that case.

Though I'll say that the Bengals are likely going to wish they played the Ravens earlier in the season. It's a young team now, and with some solid talent on both sides. I think they'll struggle early with consistency and cohesiveness because of the new parts. But they've got a great coaching staff and should be in prime form by late in the season - barring another injury run like last year. I certainly think anyone who writes them off in June is going to look silly later. They'll likely push for the division and wildcard late in the year.

Thank God.  Hard Knocks is such a fantastic show and is a great hor d'oeuvres to the NFL season.  I don't care what team it is.

Are we still calling them the Bungles? Get your head out of your ass and realize this isn't the 90s anymore. The team isn't quite NFL elite yet, but they are young and talented. Anyone who disagrees with this is either willfully ignorant or so team biased they can't comprehend facts.

The Patriots version of Hard Knocks would just be a picture of Belichick's hand over the camera for the entire episode.

Or video footage from the Dolphins', Bills', et al's practices.

I love Hard Knocks because it humanizes the players, coaches, and organization.  The last Bengals version was actually pretty funny to watch, except for the cuts sequences.  I'd love for Da Bears to do the show, but they likely never will unless compelled by a higher authority.  Far too secretive.

NFL Network recently ran the first season of Hard Knocks.  It was the Ravens from 2001.  It was HORRIBLE.  No narrator. Production values of a cable access show.  The player/coaches interviews were done in front of this God awful purple screen.

Thank you. Still, it's FARK, and old ideas die hard. Also, probably a lot more Bengals fans here to troll than say Lions fans or Browns fans.

I'm skeptical of "offensive genius" Jay Gruden.  I guess I won't really learn more about him from this show, other then whether or not he seems likeable, but the offense was awful down the stretch last year.  They beat the Steelers without an offensive touchdown.  It was the ugliest, yet most satisfying game of the year to watch.

Zimmer was hilarious last time on Hard Knocks.  I hope he doesn't tone it down since he's been interviewing for HC jobs the last few seasons.

There's only one reason this is happening: How much is Mike Brown getting paid for this show? That's all he cares about. He doesn't want his team in the playoffs, the paychecks come out of his pocket when they get there. He doesn't want to pay for Business or First Class plane tickets for free agents, they can shove their 300+ pound backsides into coach, those other types of tickets are expensive!

Mike Brown is a cheap bastard. Everything else is just window dressing. This show included.

I've never seen the show so I don't really care, but if it leads to a Jets style meltdown then I'm going to be pissed.

Count me in with the idea that the NFL needs to buy this franchise from HBO and make it manditory for teams to participate on a rolling schedule.

I would rather watch;

Saints-Payton's back, switching to a 3-4 and already lost their prize OLB free agent to a season ending ACL tear
Cardinals-will Fitzgerald maintain his calm nice exterior or will he go nuts on yet another average to bad QB, honey badger in camp
Cowboys-will Romo be shown counting his money on the sideline or actually preparing, will Dez maintain his cool, will Miles Austin pull yet another muscle
Browns-will Weeden hold onto his job or lose it to Jason C., will Mingo try to stop Richardson in practice or will he play it like the BCS game and let him go
