I listened to the album on youtube about a week or two ago.  It's not bad.

Thank goodness for that CSI cameo to push them to the top.

No Bill Ward though.

Listened to it today and it's actually pretty damn good.   If you pick it up, get the deluxe edition.  The 3 extra tracks are great.

And Queens of the Stone Age and Daft Punk are #1 & #2 on the Billboard charts. Perhaps there is hope for humanity after all.

I've been waiting for the album that should have been between "Vol. 4" and "Sabotage".  That's what this sounds like.  Not bad a all.

2013-06-16 10:22:02 PM
I liked Mob Rules. Is this album like that?

Most reboot albums suck. This isn't one of them.

Okay I just listened to the whole thing. It's awesome but whoever engineered this thing almost ruined it with the overcompressing and clipping. To said moron, I give a hearty f*ck you.

I am somewhat disappoint.

I am a bassist who worships at the altar of SABBATH (Blue Cheer,Pentagram,Deep Purple too)

Bill Ward is the drummer from my "fantasy jam" that plays in my head constantly.

Seriously. Guys! Stop dumping on your key members. Van Halen-Michael Anthony...Page and Plant-John Paul Jones...

Is that a fluke like how Cake topped the Billboard only because CD sales were at a all time low?

I for one hope Ronnie isn't on this tour.

I'm still pissed that the screwed over Bill Ward, but I'll still try to see them in Toronto because Tony might die and Ozzy could implode at any moment.

I got the album the day it came out.  Great album.  I love how it ends with the sound of falling rain, thunder, and church bells that their first album began with.

It helps that QOTSA uploaded an entire concert video to YouTube to promote "...Like Clockwork". Likewise, the 15 minute concept video is pretty kickass.

/One of the few bands that "gets it"

Sorry for the tangent but... when I got the email from iTunes I thought 'Ooh, maybe this and we'll finally get some of the Ozzy era albums too!" Not so much.  What bastards has the rights for these and why can't they get them to iTunes? Even Gail Zappa knuckled under and put Frank's material on there.

/At least 'Paranoid' and 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' people.

I was in my local mall the other day and walked past that Hot Topic store, there was a poster out front and in the window promoting the new Black Sabbath album.  Seeing Black Sabbath affiliated with anything having to do with Hot Topic made me sad.

You hope for humanity depends on number of 60s-70s albums in the charts?

The Queens of the Stoneage Album is awesome and I can't stop listening to it. Also if you have 2 hours check out the set they did for NPR
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb6Ol7usq5g

Also not huge fan of the new Daft Punk I find it beyond boring. I love all things electric and soul music related but this album is just a bore fest from start to finish.

Oh I also like the new Black Sabbath the album is solid.

A 2013 Black Sabbath album, Daft Punk and Queens of the Stone Age are from the 60s and 70s?

I am an old Sabbath fan... I found the "God is Dead" song to be very close to the original 'magic' and sound they had, as well as the lyrics being very close to where they had their roots from, albeit years later.... not GREAT, but why  "meh"?

Just asking....

I'm a reasonably old Sabbath fan myself.

It could be a case of the hype not living up to my standards. I felt like a lot of the songs were trying to be older and better Sabbath songs. God is Dead reminded me of a rehash of After Forever. It could also be that in my opinion the last 'Sabbath' album, The Devil You Know by Heaven and Hell, was such a good album that this was a step down.

I like that video of the anorexic nursing students in their underwear doing the "Harder Faster.." song. Other than that, house music gets real old real fast. Gimmie a guitar solo once in a while.

Imagine a guitarist that exists only because of the effects. Now, be sure he plays "lead". Attach that to a Daft Punk tune. I'm looking at Tom Morello. Now that would be great. A few "musicians"  running their instruments through 100 computers. That could hold my interest for a few minutes.

fark that. Gimmie Sabbath, any album, any time,

A band who's received massive amounts of attention over the span of 43 years has no trouble selling albums? Shocker!

The Rolling Stones 1997 album only made it to number 6 in the UK.

Paranoid was previously the ONLY Sabbath album to make it to number 1 in the UK.

Please define "massive amounts of attention"

I could list literally thousands of vapid and utterly disposable "artists" over the last three plus decades who got "massive amounts of attention" while Black Sabbath is rarely regarded as anything but a footnote in the history of rock. Rolling Stone magazine (stupidest "music" zine in the history of stupid music zines) has a long and embarrassing legacy of cold shouldering the Sabs.

Black Sabbath has had a long career of NOT getting the adequate and well deserved cred they should get.

Iommi I believe owns the name Black Sabbath and I think they just wanted to avoid any potential legal issues using that name with anyone other than Ozzy. Or something along those lines, but I think it was a conscious decision to call that band H&H.
