The suspect allegedly snatched a bottle from the victim's cooler and smacked the younger man over his head, shattering the container

Despite what you've seen in movies this is not an easy thing to do. Especially when the bottle is full.

Yes, but I have seen it happen, and the end result is not good.

Anyway, that'll teach 'em.

While i don't condone this action, don't be bringing glass bottles to swim areas and that wouldn't happen.

Yeah, usually it's the head that breaks, not the bottle.

Needs to be mentioned again- don't bring glass anything to the beach, pool, park, etc!

Otherwise, the punishment fits the crime.

What?!
Some people take longer to appreciate societal rules.

Also, which movie was it where the hero warns the guy not to break the bottle on the bar counter but when he does and it shatters in his hand then proceeds to grab the guy's hand and squeeze it with the glass in it?

/badly constructed sentence is...badly?
//gives up. Brain off for the day.

I be the young punk learned his lesson about following the rules and will not be bringing glass into the pool area again any time soon.  We need more crotchety old farks to stand up and do shiat like this.  The guy who went to jail should be given a pat on the back.

Actually it is easier to break a full bottle than an empty one.

I think he just went overboard and didn't follow the rule of equivalent exchange.

IE, he should have broken the bottle on the cement and then stabbed the guy in the foot while yelling "this is what glass in the foot feels like ya punk so don't bring glass to the damned pool".

Aren't 911 calls public record in California? I assume that the tape will be on YouTube and radio stations by now.

The younger guy won't have to worry about another confrontation, since he's going to own the 40ish guy's condo soon.

Huh. I did not know that. Did Mythbusters ever cover that?

They are, but you'd have to request a copy of the call.  It still has to go through the Custodian of Records and Legal before it gets released.  The situation was interesting, but I wouldn't really say the call itself was, but maybe I've heard too many calls like that already :|  At least I hope the call isn't interesting to anyone else...my voice is nasally and I hate listening to it.

An excellent demonstration of just one of the many possible dangers that arise when you bring glass bottles to the swimming pool.

I hope everyone at that condo took note of the lesson.

Guess this is why you don't bring glass to the pool.

Having been bottled myself I gotta disagree with you.
provided the bottle breaks it doesnt hurt at all. Wouldnt have even known it happend unless someone told me.

when the bottle doesnt break you will need to make good friends with aspirin

I farking HATE people that bring glass bottles to my pool.  My unit is right next to the pool, too, so I get to see the morons that post up right in front of the "no glass bottles" and "no alcoholic beverages" signs with their beer bottles. Bunch of farking douchebags.  I want to invite Mr. Bottle-Smash to hang out at my spot this summer and lay the smack down.

I don't really get the freakout about this.  If he's just chilling and drinking I dont have a problem with him breaking an arbitrary rule.  If he breaks a bottle and doesn't clean it up then freakout.  The rule should be no broken glass not no intact glass bottles.

I agree. Plus, I think it's more of a legal liability thing for the owner of the pool more than anything else.

Ever try to clean broken glass from the inside of a swimming pool?  My father-in-law had someone drop a glass in his pool once, and the cost to drain and clean the pool was over $1,000.  As someone who already pays out the ass for his HOA fees each month, the last thing I want is to pay even more because some asshat either couldn't read a simple sign, or wanted to be a douche and ignore it.

I see no problem with this, but at least the guy didn't sleep with his daughter.
