Perhaps, but it's probably northern NJ.

Growing up there, it's northern NJ.  My town had more pizzerias and hair salons then you could shake a stick at.

I like a good pizza. And there's many kinds.

But the deep dish thing ain't a pizza you can get outside of the windy city. If it were that good, it would be international.

Do you know how NYC went from being one of the most dangerous cities in America to one of the safest?

Its kinda hard to commit a crime when there are several police officers on every corner

They should erase the words "Fathers Day" from calendars sold in Chicago.   They go out shooting anyone that they think might have slept with their mothers.

Just avoid the areas within 20 miles of Lake MIchigan.

Interesting that Chicago crime is of national interest all of a sudden. Sure, our murder rate isn't even in the top 10 in the nation, but hey, the LIBRUL president is from here and he is brown, so...

Police presence is very much dependent on where you are.  I live in a relatively safe part of Queens, and I rarely see police walking around.  This, despite the fact that I'm maybe 8 blocks from a precinct (#112).  A few years ago, I was working at 59th and Lex, and saw cops a lot, including the Hercules teams.  But, that was mostly anti-terrorism work.

So, I neither feel unsafe from crime, nor a heavy-handed police presence.  Might be different in Bed-Stuy, I can't say.

But in the UK, with its unarmed citizenry and where criminals can still obtain guns, there were how many shootings and how many murders during the same period?

Nah. It just makes you look painfully naive to single Chicago out. Nice try at saving face though. You failed, but nice try.

Detroit style pizza is tasty, but the grease content of the crust in 4 slices or so would take down an elephant.

The only thing I've failed at is living in a city with that much violence. Which is what I said originally. Not sure what you're going on about, my intention wasn't to diss Chicago.

I was there last weekend. Didn't get shot, did enjoy the pizza at Giordano's. With a Sam Adam's Boston Lager. Would have enjoyed thin crust with Coors, as well. I just don't get food snobbery.

Most large cities in the US, or third world countries.

Show me a city in Europe, Canada, Australia etc with stats like that.

The Vice video about Chicago, called Chiraq, should be required watching for every American:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7q3tokn4ew&feature=player_embedded

Where Vice gets it wrong is that Chicago's violence isn't driven by normal people getting their hands on guns and turning into maniacs. Chicago's violence is the product of decades long lack of real cultural leadership, economic advancement and the allowance of base ignorance to fester into a war zone.

Too bad Chicago isn't as gun-safe as those in Texas....

Why, it's almost like every large metro area has bad areas to avoid.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Clearly a failure to regulate the militia.

Its time to repeal the second amendment and put something more relavent in its place. It is, after all, an amendment to our Constitution which is supposed to be a living document.
