I really hate Obama and I don't like homosexuals

Very clever.

Dear Major General Brady;

Thank you for your noble and honorable service. I'm heartened that today should I go into battle the medivac pilots and crewmen would willingly risk their lives to save mine, even though I am a homosexual. Conversely I have in the past risked my life and shed blood in defense of a fellow soldier, even if our personal views off the battlefield did not align. No matter how petty or one-sided our arguments might have been, we were ready to die for one another.

I suppose that makes us better men, and we can go to our graves knowing that our service to the nation and to each other transcends the labels that politicians and the media hang around our necks. There were no queers, no fundamentalists, no distinction between Christian, Muslim, and Jew. No white, black, hispanic, or Asian. There were only soldiers who stood as a band of brothers.

I could only wish the same comfort for you.

Regards,
A queer transsexual veteran who would still die for you and for the nation if called upon.

When did this guy start making so much sense?? Or is that the "random" part?

Some of our local professional "troll accounts" get too well known and become recycled into "normal posters". Then they use some other alt account. I have actually had to take some old posters off of ignore when they started posting absolute gold and platinum post that were coherent. You get used to it. Random and even spentmiles are examples. They arent reformed, they just started using newer alts I assume.

MusicMakeMyHeadPound: EngineerAU: Sgt Otter: "'Keep my decrees. "'Do not mate different kinds of animals. "'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. "'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material." Leviticus 19:19 -NIV

Much like folk wisdom, a lot of what is commanded by the Bible has its origin in a rational thought appropriate for the time it was written, but I've never understood where the demand that clothes not be made up of more than one type of material came from. Makes me wonder if it got slipped into the Bible by someone who was annoyed by static electricity?

It was put in by the Israeli marketing department.

A bit snarky and over-simplistic but I'm serious: that chapter of Leviticus was intended to distinguish the newly formed nation from its neighbors. It's literally about identity and branding.

/the Biblical penalty for being gay is that you can't call yourself Jewish

I think this is the idea being 'Jewishness' being about who your mom was, not your dad. Since Isreal got trampled by so many invasions, the best way to rebuild your population was to accept all the rape-babies into the fold instead of exposing them to die.

comhcinc: Women have ruined the military

Actually, the Major General already covered that part too, and appears to be a regular on WND.

Basically, women were weak, icky, had cooties, their feminine hygiene was a "waste of time" and they should be out having babies and "nurturing life".

I respect the guy's service; he's still a misogynic old homophobe.

LectertheChef: When I look at bible verses, I just laugh at anybody who takes any of it seriously. If one is looking for spiritual philosophy stuff, better to go with Buddhism. If someone's looking for historical knowledge, the bible is one of the most unreliable things ever written. Seriously. It says angels came down from heaven and farked a bunch of women, creating a race of supermen. And that's not even the dumbest thing in the bible.

Yup. Which is why I studied it from the literature side of things (I've got an English degree). As literature, the Bible is farking gold. Try to do anything else with it, and you'll fall in a hole that you didn't see because your head was stuck too far up your butt.

jmr61: It might help but I refuse to subject myself to the crap that's in there based on all that I've seen and heard.

I don't blame you in the slightest. It's hard to separate the book from the culture around it, but if you can put that away, it's interesting. Some of it was ahead of its time (eye for an eye was actually an improvement), and some of the agricultural laws are just plain smart gardening (not letting a tree fruit for so many years, for example, which helps to increase yield as the branches are strong enough to support the weight).

"I do not fear Satan so much as I fear the men who fear Satan." The Bible's not the the problem. People are (and always have been, and always will be).

NewportBarGuy: I'm sure the wounded gay soldiers you rescued from harm's way forgive you for your hateful rhetoric.

I'd tell him what I tell all my military friends who whine about gays: "They've been there all along."

That really bugs them because the average military member has no gaydar.

While I thank him for his service, having served myself the first thoughts I had when I read this from TFA:

"I would not serve in a quad-sexual military, nor would I encourage any young person to enlist in today's military. I would give my life for the country and military I served. I would not give one drop of blood for the country and military we are becoming," he said.

lead me to believe that he should have had that PTSD treated years ago.

By "quadsexuals" I just figured he meant gay guys who were really proud of their strong, smooth, muscular thighs, bundles of tissue which flexed and strained as they lifted up their wounded buddy out of harm's way on the battlefield and back to the medical tent, where the expert hands of a male nurse quickly went about the mission of healing his ....

randomjsa: AirForceVet: Perhaps the former service member who was terminally ill wrote an accurate article based on established facts.

This general is spouting off bigotry and hatred, masked by the American flag and the Bible.

It's not whether someone is conservative, moderate or liberal, it's a logical discussion of facts. Did we find WMDs in Iraq after we invaded? No. Did the Bush Administration drop the ball on the invasion and the occupation of Iraq? Yes. Was the Iraq War completely unnecessary? IMHO, yes.

And, in the first place, I didn't like the idea of starting a second war while already engaged in a country that actually attacked us in our homeland.

Basically this is summed up as "When they say something I agree with, they must be right, and when they say something I disagree with, they must be wrong"

Alternatively, it could be "People are right when they say something correct, and wrong when they are incorrect."

The suggestion that legitimacy hinges on Appeal to Authority is something you put forward, not anyone here, or in this abstract veteran-arguing-against-Bush's-war thread you keep vaguely referring to. It's the Conservatives who continually rally around phrases like "Support the Troops," and while I don't think anyone should argue that the status of Sheehan or 9/11 widows should put them above question, it does serve as a convenient counterpoint to the right-wing military fetishism that typically rejects any argument that runs counter to their self-defined patriotism.

Besides, are they any "liberal talking points ever created about Bush and the Iraq War" that turned out to be wrong?

2013-06-17 12:32:39 PM
This gentleman's honor is very cheap, isn't it, that he would not shed "one drop of blood" for a military that allows gay people to serve in it. Medal or not, no one is all that honorable if they determine someone's worth by their sexuality. This guy gets no respect from me whatsoever.

Uniforms and medals ought not bring the automatic deference to the wearer that we tend to let them bring.

THIS.

spongeboob: jake_lex: Winning a Medal of Honor probably means you can be very brave when you must be.

It doesn't mean you aren't a dumbass bigot, though.

You don't win a Medal of Honor you are awarded a Medal of Honor,.

And THIS.

No, you aren't the only one who knows. I had the privilege of meeting these individuals
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sammy_L._Davis
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Wetzel
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Westmoreland
before I joined, and again when I was home on leave at a Vietnam Veteran function back in the mid and late 80's. It was impressed upon me at that time that MOH recipients aren't playing a farking game.

In my experience, anyone who claims to be a veteran and says MOH winner during a conversation is in fact not actually a veteran but a poser and should suffer death, by boogaloo...
