List fails without Chan Gailey, Dick Jauron and whoever else the Bills have had since Marv Levy

2013-06-16 06:44:58 AM
List also fails without Ray Handley.

2013-06-16 08:09:59 AM
List fails without Norv Turner, who even after coaching a talent-filled team like the Cargers, still ended 118-126-1.

2013-06-16 08:10:37 AM
Chargers, dammit.

2013-06-16 08:15:27 AM
As an Eagles fan I am GLAD Buddy Ryan is on there. Talk about a guy who did less with more talent than any other coach.

Fans of the Falcons must be especially proud.

Dave Farking Wannstedt. Worst Bears coach ever.

No Josh McDaniels? They must be reserving his name for the trophy that will be awarded to these other guys.

He dismantled a franchise in 18 months.

Mr. Coffee Nerves: As an Eagles fan I am GLAD Buddy Ryan is on there. Talk about a guy who did less with more talent than any other coach.

But he did give us the bounty bowl.

I also remember rooting for the opposing offense to get the ball back so we could score some points.  His offense was that bad.

2013-06-16 09:48:38 AM
Somehow it's fitting that the list includes three Eagles head coaches.

people who think Rex is bad at offense never watched his father. Those o-lines the Eagles had back then were atrocious. They couldn't stop a cub scout troop. Poor Randall was scrambling so much because he was in fear for his life.

Lane Kiffen, that's all I have to say.

Lost Thought 00: Marvin Lewis, Every Raiders coach after Gruden, Every Browns coach after schottenheimer

I'll stick up for Lewis a little bit. He knows how to handle personnel, he knows how to put together a game plan, he knows how to get max effort from his players. Now, if they could just tie him up in a windowless room without any communication devices during the actual game, the Bengals would be perennial winners.

It should include all of the Bills coaches in th last decade+.

Gailey, Jauron, Mularkey, Gregg Williams...there may be others I'm forgetting.

The fact that I doesn't include any of them is shocking.

2013-06-16 11:19:43 AM
Very happy Mourningwheg (spelled wrong on purpose) is ranked #1. Granted he did not have a lot of real talent to work with, he just made bad decisions after terrible decisions. Aside from the "Wind" decision...

Where's Nick Saban?  He sucked so much ass in Miami that he retired to some podunk school in Alabama and was never heard from again.

SilentStrider: Poor Randall was scrambling so much because he was in fear for his life.

I'm still wondering what Randall could have become had he had, you know, actual coaching and offensive philosophy. Buddy's instructions were simply "run around and do something, and if you mess up, the defense will take care of it", and Richie the K tried to pretend that Randall should be a stand-still pocket passer and got annoyed when he was proven wrong every game.

All y'all are forgetting a whole slew of pre-Levy Bills coaches.  Hank ("wind out of our sails") Bullough and Kaye Stephenson come to mind...

Buffalo's had three good coaches in their history.  Three.  Out of eighteen (not including Marrone).  Saban (and he's iffy), Knox, and Levy.  That's it.  You could take the other fifteen, add Norv Turner, and have this article.

2013-06-16 11:41:38 AM
Surprised to see no one represeting the Rams on that list, considering how horrible we've been (not counting the Greatest Show on Turf years).

2013-06-16 11:44:41 AM
Amazing the apparent correlation between failure head coaches and failure franchises.

It's like Belichick would suck if he had to coach in Cleveland.

2013-06-16 11:51:19 AM
Only three Jets coaches? I demand a recount!

//Although we just hired #1 as our offensive coordinator, so we'll see how that goes.

2013-06-16 12:02:34 PM
I assumed there would be a lot more New England coaches on there. But after looking at all of those coaches' W/L records, they weren't horrible, just mediocre. And as a Patriots' coach, Bill Parcells had a worse record (.500) than Ron Meyer (.545), Raymond Berry (.551) and Pete Carroll (.562). I always though Parcells was overrated despite his two Super Bowls.

And I'm surprised more Jets' coaches aren't listed.

2013-06-16 12:12:59 PM
Good to see that literally every single coach Buffalo has had since Levy made the honorable mention.

2013-06-16 12:21:33 PM
List fails without Jim Zorn the creator of the the worst play in NFL History.

2013-06-16 12:32:38 PM
Cam Cameron, Nick Saban, Josh McDaniels?

Maybe I just don't know enough of the shiatty coaches from the 70's, 80's, and early 90's.

Ray Rhodes?

Maybe you just don't know what an actual sh*tty coach is. Saban went 15-17 with a Joey Harrington and Cleo Lemon-led team. Cam Cameron at least has the horrible record as a coach you'd be looking for. McDaniels took a team that was already on the decline due to Mike Shanahan's mismanagement and helped get it set up for the future. (Also, giving HC+GM powers to one person pretty much results in decreased success - I don't know why people keep giving people both jobs).

/wonder what would've happened with the Dolphins, Saints, Saban, and all of college football if they decided they wanted Brees instead of Culpepper.

2013-06-16 01:06:17 PM
Dave Campo not on this list?

2013-06-16 01:14:08 PM
I don't remember the circumstances or the particular roster, so I'll point out that MM's (hell if I'm going to spell his last name properly) call of "I'll take the wind" kinda makes sense when for most of his tenure with the Lions, the only player worth a sh*t on the roster was their kicker.

Lando Lincoln: Dave Farking Wannstedt. Worst Bears coach ever.

Those guys between Halas and Ditka might argue that.

Wannstadt at least had a playoff win. But after '95, his teams were bad, bad.

George Seifert with his wonderful 16-32 record at Carolina.  Wore a perpetual face of "I'd rather be fishing"

I'd say THIS, but I refuse to acknowledge those 2 years ever happened.

Talk about someone who dropped off the face of the earth after he got fired.

LoneDoggie: George Seifert with his wonderful 16-32 record at Carolina.  Wore a perpetual face of "I'd rather be fishing"

Definitely the most overrated. Inherited a winning team from Bill Walsh, had Montana and Young, and some pretty amazing defenses at SF. Couldn't coach sh*t when he didn't have all that.

2013-06-16 02:10:35 PM

Captain Steroid: vygramul: List fails without Norv Turner, who even after coaching a talent-filled team like the Cargers, still ended 118-126-1.

It's a cliche to hate on Norv, but he isn't even close to the worst coaches on this list. "The most talented team in the NFL" window was closing fast when he was hired, yet everyone acted like the Chargers were just LOADED with talent for 5 years after that, and it was all Norv's fault.

They weren't. AJ Smith whiffed multiple times in the draft and FA, mismanaged cap space, alienated key players, and basically farked the Chargers to the point where Norv had nothing to work with.

Norv gets 10x the shiat he deserves. Great coach? Nope, but not even close to this list.

Jim Mora Jr. Even saying his name causes a fart smell to hit the noses of Seahawks fans

I wish they would make a list of the worst coaches per franchise. That would be interesting.

Bart Starr. That is all.

Every Raiders coach after Gruden? You mean Al Davis's Finger Puppets?
