6,070 Hectares =23.4364 Square Miles

Rhode Island = 1,214 Square Miles

23.43 / 1214 = 0.0193

So.... Carry the .0 and

193 hogsheads (or roughly 17 blue whales)

Besides the headline's obvious fail, are hectares even metric?

Looks like not really

cretinbob: Besides the headline's obvious fail, are hectares even metric?

Yes, it's a metric unit. An are is the original metric unit for area, at 10 m x 10 m. The hectare is 100 of those.

At least it doesn't smell like campfire here anymore. Hope they get it put out soon and we don't have anymore this year. After last year, the smell alone reminds me of getting chased out of the neighborhood by those flames.

40. Assuming your car is the same as Mr. Burns' and gets 40 rods to the hogshead that is.

Also, it will cost you 5,000 quatloos if you want your tires re-vulcanized post haste!

/40 rods is 0.125 miles
//That thing burns some serious gas!

"cubic liter" Subby??

You're cubing a unit of volume which is already a cubed unit of linear measurement. How many dimensions are you going for??

Why not just say 60.7sq km?

That's the great thing about U.S. standards. So many to choose from.

I once worked with a plastic surgeon/ENT who quoted bacterial counts "per cubic gram of tissue".  He freaked out when I sheepishly informed him that a gram was a measure of mass and couldn't be squared or cubed in real world applications.  He went on to perform Linda Tripp's face lift.  Or not.  Uncertainty is important here.

Smoot. Its all about the Smoot.

Also, fire bad. Glad it's on its way out. Inlaws ended up on pre-evacuation. Friends were evacuated. The people we've heard from still have their homes but we haven't heard from some friends yet.

Maybe the dimension where liters are not part of the metric system.

Also, how many bushels per watt is that again?

That is about 6,070,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 square angstroms!

Sounds like a lot until you consider that it is only .00000000000000000000000678200184 square light years.

It doesn't seem like anyone's talking about it, but the update this morning says it's 55% contained and the investigation into the cause is being treated as if it's criminal.
