Well, that's pretty goofy.  I wonder if Putin thought he was actually giving it to him, or if it's just like when millionaire celebrities shoplift just for the thrill of it.

First pressuring Belichick to sign Tebow, now claiming that Putin stole his ring. Has Bob Kraft gone off the deep end?

2013-06-15 12:20:32 PM
Kraft told the crowd at Carnegie Hall's Medal of Excellence gala at the Waldorf-Astoria."I put my hand out and he put it in his pocket, and three KGB guys got around him and walked out."

Speaking of, "dude, it's 2005."

We used to farking threaten the Russians with nuclear Armageddon if they got out of line. Now we stand there like ts1.mm.bing.net while he jacks people's sh*t??

I've been telling this one at tailgates for years. It's one of my favorite football stories. I can just picture Kraft's face when the situation sinks in.

Don't have to "pressure" Belichick into anything. Belichick is his employee and Kraft can sign whoever he wants. I don't think Belichick has anything to do with the actual signing, either

Unless you're specifically talking about the Tebow signing here, Belichick is the GM in NE...only Kraft could do something roster-wise without his say so.

PS:

I think Diplomatic Immunity is supposed to be cover for when dignitaries park illegally or accidentally cause a fender-bender.

I don't think it means that Putin can fly to the US, look at some father in the eye, and say "Your 13 year old looks hot. I'll take her. NOW!"

Bodyguard details are provided by the FSO which used to be the 9th Directorate of the KGB.

Belichick does not have more control over anything Patriot related than Kraft. Kraft can overrule him on anything.

I may have just misinterpreted your wording of "pressured" though.

Probably not, due to the amount of time passed since the collapse. The guys who actually run the Putin security and intelligence show are almost assuredly ex-KGB, but the guards themselves are probably too young to have been agents at the time.

Still, I think it's funny that I came into a thread planning on mocking the usage of "Soviet," but managed to blow right past the KGB one until a Farker pointed it out.

/misses the Soviets
//at least then we knew what we were fighting about, and it was a true threat

Let me get this straight.

Putin jacks someone's expensive Super Bowl ring, and when the owner wants to ask to have it back, he's told by own own GW Bush govt. to STFU in the name of "keeping good US-Russian relations".

And HE'S the bad guy?

I think it's Putin that's the one threatening "US-Russian relations" by committing Grand Larceny. Putin may get to pull that crap with his peasants, but not at foreign nationals.

No wonder why everyone thinks they can push Americans around.

Bob Kraft mumbles like a senile old idiot when he talks, so there's a decent chance that when he thought he said, "Excuse me, Vladimir, but may I please have my ring back?" what he actually said was "mmmghgn smiikk skmsdfs bunngg gahhhh" which Putin may have taken as a threat so he had his security detail escort him out of harm's way.

Honestly, this is all just a big misunderstanding.

Signs Kraft is senile.

1. Signs Tebow.
2. Claims Putin stole his ring.
