If you should run into anything, the baby would provide some crumple zone protection.

I'm hoping for some photoshops in this thread.

Exactly.  It's a safety device, essentially.

If you hit a curb you could launch a baby off that like a catapult.

So cool. It's definitely cool.

So all the kids have helmets on, but none of the parents?

It's all good until a dumbass tries to do a kickflip with it.

Bad idea. As an ER doctor, how will I code injuries for the Affordable Care Act? 'Baby hurt on skateboard' or the all-inclusive standard favorite 'baby fell out of stroller'?

The scarf wearing neckbeard in the polka-dot  sweater has a very punch worthy face.

That was great, thanks!

You mean Tom Cruise's bastard hipster kid?  My first thought too.

It has handles. It's a scooter with a longboard base.

I'm okay with this, if these are the end results. However...if you have to include your kid in EVERYTHING you do, fark off and die. What's next? Baby seats on mt bikes or road bikes? A gnarly dude wearing a baby sling (or whatever they are called) while riding a ramp in the X-Games? or better yet, the double wide stroller longboard, so your SO can ride with also.

Child carriers on bikes have been around since the 60s, old-timer.

That onion on your belt has sprouted derp.

Ehh, wrap a crash bar in front of the tyke and it should be safe. Toss in the motorized skateboard idea and you have a winner for a world of one child per couple. In Utah they'd have to seat three by three.

Oh, and I've never seen kids with so much ennui before. "Mommy takes me skating and I have to ride in this child seat."

Since this comes from the Daily Fail, my guess is this isn't even a real thing and nobody is actually thinking about making it.

No shiat sherlock, I used to ride in one. I was trying to conjure up an image of a hardcore downhiller riding the A Train or someone in the peloton of the Tour with a child seat on their bike.

Imagination, use it.

You probably can't detect HGH doping in a baby over the normal background level.  Winnar!

I used to this when my boys were little, but with and actual skateboard and one of those front to back double stroller. Bonus: in San Francisco. Old Russian ladies would lose their shiat, but we never wrecked.

I vote cool. Very.

A bit better, but she should be arrested for child endangerment.

Yeah, I think those are actually tiny hearts, actually.  To me, that upgrades it to repeatedly punchable face.

No, you can't. The baby is stupidly strapped in.

That kids head is really going to make a mess when mom hit something.

2013-06-15 09:01:55 PM
To echo something already posted in this thread, how is this any dumber than bicycle seats for toddlers? If anything, the bike is easily capable of higher speeds. I see the point about the kid being the crumple zone in a head-on collision, but a faster moving bike is going to split that kid's head open, too.

It seems more silly than stupid or cool.

Put a dash cam on it so you can see what happens when mom discovers the complete lack of a braking system.

Youtube viral goodness ensues.

Um yeah about that.  All she would have to do is step on the built in brake over the back wheels. Which, of course, DOES leave room for kid launching if stepped upon abruptly enough.

Now a bigger seat that I could fit into and set into the middle with a motor and hand lever for the brake would be AWESOME!

I unsure about the cool/stupid ratio of this invention, but the pics in the article is illustrative of the worrying trend of children who are goddam old enough to walk for their goddam selves still being carted around in strollers.

This.

Yes, why are the parents not wearing helmets? Second that's a scooter not s longboard. Third, what velocity are they capable of? I see lawsuits and maimed children in the future. Otherwise, great idea.

I love that they aren't wearing any helmets.  Its up to Darwin to decide now!

Lot of teen longboarders keep sailing into traffic around here.
