Any whiskey makes a good gift. And if it's cheap stuff, you just guzzle it down in an effort to forget the ungrateful little shiats who couldn't even spring for a decent bottle of booze for the old man.

Only whisky would be better - now wouldn't it?

I got tickets to see Alton Brown live, and my 10 year old is taking me to lunch at McDonalds.  Because 10 year old. I'm driving.  Probably paying, too.

Whiskey would be fun, but that's probably how the 10 year old happened.

Whisky helps you remember the body you got pregnant.

Not fair, I'd fudge if I ran into Alton, period.

Took a trip up to Nova Scotia a few years ago and found a great distillery up there.

My dad doesn't much like whisky, it would be a waste to buy him some for father's day.

No gift of whisky for me this morning, but I did wake up to the family making chocolate chip cookies. Certainly had worse days.

/also - just bought a new bottle of Templeton Rye at Costco the other day. I'm good for awhile

TFA: Buying single malts as gifts is a tricky business. The category encompasses a wide array of flavors, many of which are incredibly polarizing. (In the case of a smoky Islay like Laphroaig, one could argue whether it is delicious or that it tastes like a Band-Aid that survived a fire.

While it is true that some people for whatever reason do not like Laphroaig, I think switching to a different scotch is not really an ideal solution.  Much better: switch to a different father.

Laphroaig is my go-to scotch.  If he doesn't like it, that's just more for me.
