That's a horrible thing to say

She probably wanted to be closer to Dr. Drew.

Because he has such a good track record with other celebs and can get it done in 30 days with just a modest number of commercial breaks.

I'd suggest 17 days to eligibility for club 27 but she's not talented enough.

Starting a new program should reset her 90 day sentence. Just sayin'.

She stuck with Betty Ford for more than a few days. Good on her.

So she's totally cured now, right?

Fark it.

Put her in a room with Robert Downey and Amanda Bynes and lets him point and say "This was then and this could be now."

I've known my fair share of hardcore addicts. Some have cleaned up and stayed sober. Others have abused for so long, it seems like they have damaged the parts of the brain necessary to control impulsive behavior, which makes sobriety damn near impossible. From her track record, she may be the latter. Had she been thrown in prison several years ago, and received good counseling while she was in there, she might have had a chance. At this point, I think an OD is inevitable.

Keep in mind every now and then someone is so dark so twisted that the drugs actually seem to fuel that person.

Very very true....Through the years,I knew 3 alcoholic druggies that quit cold turkey and died in less than a year after abstaining.....And though completely unrelated and years apart...all three deaths were heart attacks on a Sunday...And(no I dont have pics)..one was getting ready to go to church and the other two were after attending church..

AA isn't about 'self control'; alcoholics have fairly remarkable self control over other matters, but none regarding booze. Attempting to 'normal person' logic an addict or alcoholic doesn't work, they function by a different perception of the world, or at least their drugs/booze. While there is a clinical condition of 'wet brain', it takes a long time to reach that point, and you can usually be recovered as long as you don't have actual alcohol induced dementia.

Addiction isn't impulse control, and behavior modification therapy, or therapy in general, does not work for most people with these issues (it may, but the overall track record is bad, it's typically not a great solution for 'true' addicts).  I can't say Lohan is an addict, because only she can decide that for herself.

What I can declare is that it doesn't matter a single shiat in the wind what anyone else says, does, or enforces on her. Until she decides she's done, and wants help, she won't be.  Guilt trip interventions have a terrible long-term success rate, because the person typically goes to treatement 'for the group' or to get people off their back (same for jail enforce treatement, etc.).  I'm not saying these facilities can't work, because they do, people occasionally go for outside reasons and end up finding out they want to get and stay sober. But the drive has to come from within the person, they have to be desirous to get clean and sober, and willing to do whatever it takes to stay that way.  Whatever it takes.  And understand it's a lifelong commitment, not a 'for X days' thing.

There's also a pretty big difference when you have Bruce Weber behind the camera, along with a whole cadre of makeup and wardrobe people vs being shot by some random pap on the street at the wrong end of the evening.

While I agree in general about what you said I do have to add a small caveat. In her current state while she can earn at least some money, if not what she could before, she is going to attract the enablers to tell her what she wants to hear to let her keep using. So far she has not shown any desire to get clean and so she wont. Hopefully she can pull an RDJ and get clean but remember he did some hard time before he finally cleaned up. It may take that.

Likewise, her continued existence isn't in any way affecting yours, so why not just wish that she gets through whatever trouble she's in and hope that she has a long happy life.

It's tough to laugh at this, as I've had quite a few family members and friends going through similar troubles. Patience is not simply a virtue in this case, it's a way of life. To see someone pick it up and fall down repeatedly and not judge...it's a very humbling experience.

I know sincerity is frowned upon on Fark but I truly wish her luck...
