sometimes I wonder if the GOP really IS as stupid as they appear.  this was a profoundly idiotic move.  it not only damages the local Republicans, but now the entire country is once more commenting on just how petty and vicious the GOP has become.  Because this move really IS petty and vicious.  it sends the wrong message (or maybe the right one, if i'm reading the GOP correctly on this), that the Republicans hate/fear independent women.

I dunno.  maybe it's time for the Republican party to fade away into nothing.  they certainly seem beyond saving.

The person in charge of that office was recently released for jail for DWI and there has been considerable outcry for her to resign.  She's refused, and as a consequence there are now several lawsuits filed and the government has decided to try and strong arm her out.

That's what the line-item veto is for, and Perry has been threatening it for weeks.  Unfortunately it's only been local news.

As sad as that is we keep getting even nuttier opponents to run against him.  Just look at Debra Medina, a crazy-eyes TEAhadist that makes Michelle Bachman look sane.  And at least for the time being the D's in this state are non-existent.

The only good thing about Governor Good Hair is that he's the devil we know.

Wouldn't employers already be giving women equal-or-better pay if they were worth it to the employers? An employer who is underpaying women won't remain in business for long because the women will go the competitor to get better pay.

The effect is Lily Ledbetter type cases would have to go through the federal courts.  State courts would automatically reject the claim.

The Lily Ledbetter act itself was a way to extend the statute of limitations on wage lawsuits (that each paycheck would count as the most recent instance renewing the 180 day limit).

So, if he *only* removed that extention, then he *only* vetoed the effective heart of the bill!

You should read that article again.  It callls bullshiat on the 77 cent thing but STILL acknowledges an unexplained gap of several cents.

And even if there was no pay gap doesn't mean there isn't the occasional company that's giving women the short straw.

Yes, cocksucker, I do.

This article has been changed.
FTFA:  Editor's note: This story has been updated throughout.
In the original, it stated that Perry had only vetoed the extension of the statute of limitations to the current equal pay law in the state as he felt that the federal law was sufficient.  If you want to interpret that as denying someone the ability to bring a lawsuit in the state then so be it.
Oh, and fark you.

You think Obamacare is a mess, wait until you get into the minutia of trying to define what "equal pay" and "equal work" mean. And for that matter, what "work" and "pay" themselves mean.
