Jesus, how transparent can these assholes get?  "Yeah, I really support my own legislation, unless the homos stand to get something positive from it.  Then I'll torpedo it like were a German U-boat and it was 1942.  Who cares about immigration, really, just as long as the faygeles get nada!

Disgusting, pathetic excuse for a conservative.  Just call yourself a member of the ChristoFascist party and get done with it.

Senator PETE Rubio?

Was he in a boat with his brother Pete?

2013-06-14 02:41:32 PM
What's with these assholes? "Oh yeah we want protection for MY minority group, but that other, more oppressed minority group can go fark themselves!"

Liberals have empathy for people they've never met before. Conservatives have empathy for people they know very well.

2013-06-14 02:45:26 PM
Wouldn't the GOP rather have an immigration policy that only legalized gay immigrants after those projections on a future white minority were released?

2013-06-14 02:46:15 PM
How's that minority outreach going for you?
Fabulous!

2013-06-14 02:46:37 PM
C'mon be reasonable.  Nobody's foreign AND gay!

You can't be two things at the same time, that's just science.

2013-06-14 02:47:35 PM
how's that outreach coming, GOP?

CanuckInCA: What's with these assholes? "Oh yeah we want protection for MY minority group, but that other, more oppressed minority group can go fark themselves!"

I was reading some research at one point about how most people care more about being above someone else than having other people above them.

Dems should call his bluff. I think they need this more than the Dems. They read the papers. They know the numbers are against them.

the dumbass rating is off the scale with this.

It's a poison pill. They can't rightly recognize same sex marriages for immigrants if we don't recognize them for Americans. The GOP all know this. It's dead in the water with that amendment. It'll get pulled/tossed.

Would the issue of LGBT protection matter if DOMA was overturned?

"And by 'something positive', I mean 'the minimum rights that everyone else already has'."

Well if we start letting gay people into the country, before you know it, we're all gay.

2013-06-14 02:54:30 PM
So wait, the LGBT protections are for immigration rights? If it is relevant to the bill, what the fark is the problem? ...morons.

I could understand if if was some sort of poison pill like gay marriage (which I support but, would be a poison pill in this context).

Also, I am not exactly sure what immigration has to do with sexual orientation in the first place. What are these protections intended to protect against? What is it about being LGBT that would inhibit the immigration procedure? (I don't know, not had to personally deal with any immigration process)

Never thought of that. You are correct.

"If the border situation is not improved in this bill, this bill won't pass," he said. "It won't pass the Senate and it has no chance in the House. It won't become a law and we're wasting our time."

You're already stuck, Marco Polo. Shoot it down and you look like meanies. Pass it and you still don't get the Hispanic vote because you're meanies. The only question now is does the Senate or House end up with egg on its face? All the while the Dems and Obama are munching on nachos and sipping Jarritos.

SixPaperJoint: Would the issue of LGBT protection matter if DOMA was overturned?

I believe it would not largely, but there may be some particular cases where the mix of federal recognition but no state recognition leaves a couple hung out to dry. This is a big part of why I've advocated for holding up a vote on the amendment for same-sex couple protection until the DOMA opinion gets handed out.

I fail to see how this is a duplicate of that other thread. That was about the ENDA, this one is about immigration reform.

It's simply amazing how often these assclowns make themselves a target for their stupidity. That being said, I'm sure a bunch of people that blindly support anything with an (R) after their name are cheering him on.

What's funny is this was supposed to be a way for him to reach out to a race disenfranchised by his party and now he's all but daring the (D)'s to throw LGBT stuff on it so he won't have to follow through with it.

It's Brer Rabbit and the Briar Patch: Legislation Style.

"Don't make me sink my own bill, I'll do it.... DON'T YOU DARE DO IT!!! I'm serious!!"

Like we can't see through this ruse.

As if they weren't painting themselves into a corner from the get-go.  The bottom line of the whole immigration debate is this: the American people will not support any immigration bill that does not include some sort of path to citizenship (nor should they), and the Republican base will decry ANY and ALL proposed paths to citizenship as amnesty, islamofascism, socialism, yoga, etc.  There is absolutely no way that the GOP can get past this conundrum, and their attempts to do so will only drive more and more people away from the party.

What he's doing now is setting up for the self fulfilled prophecy of failure but trying really hard to get the Dems to be the bad guys. His bill won't pass, but he wants someone to force him to shut it down so he can say he tried.

This guy really is a joke. A very, very thirsty joke.

Heh, yup.  Which goes to show you just how delusional Republicans are.  Somebody should tell them that the voters they need to attract largely do not consider protections for lgbt couples a bad thing.

Imagine, if you will, a family.  Let's say the lady is Canadian & the man is American. They have a twee lil baby. The USA says the lady has to go back to Canadia. They get married. Lady Hockeysticks stays. Awesome.

Now let us transport into a situation in which it's two ladies instead of a heterosexual couple. Things would be different for no other reason besides they like innies instead of outies. That's a problem. Equality is good for all of us.
