The two girls tried to stomp out the fire while the boy ran away when the fire started Wednesday.

I didn't run away! I went to get help! I ran all the way over to Marvin's house but he wasn't home. I forgot he has band camp. Then I went over to Dave's. Dave was grounded 'cause his step father caught him drinking and the jerk made his mom do something about it. So then I went to Mike's. I knew he would know what to do. He told me it would burn itself out and I should chill in his basement for a while. But then his sister came down to the basement and told us not to bother her cause she was going out by the pool to catch some rays. So I watched her from the basement window. I know she knew I was watching her because she slipped off her top and waved it at me. Mike got mad and said I was just there to watch his sister and told me to hit the road.

So I went back to see how things were going. I saw a bunch of fire trucks and stuff and I figured you wouldn't mention me because I sure wouldn't mention either of you guys if you had been smart enough to run for help. Which I totally did. But you guys threw me to the wolves and now I won't get in to MIT like my mom wants me to. Just gotta say "Thanks a lot. One big thanks."

We did that when we were kids, too, but we didn't live in an environment made of explodium.

Dinodork: Ow! That was my feelings!: Inflatable Rhetoric: Atomic Spunk: The girls were referred to juvenile court to face allegations of reckless burning.

This seems like an overreaction to a fire that didn't cause any significant property damage (or at least the article made it sound that way), and wasn't intentionally set. I'm guessing it wasn't intentional because the girls tried to stomp it out after it started.

I'd like to think that our court system has bigger criminals to go after, but maybe not.

I agree.  They're kids, get over it.

yeah, who cares? What's the worst that could happen?
