the old-fashioned liquor-swilling appeal of Mad Men leading the way.

Oh please, every powerful man in every movie ever has a crystal bottle filled with bourbon or scotch in his office that he drinks at all hours of the day. Mad Men is what, not even 5 years old?

I'm not sure my employer would agree, but if you say so Subby!

From the date in the article, you're a day late and a a dollar short,  subby, but it's the thought that counts.

I'm going old school tonight, gonna have something bottled in bond.

There's just a certain special feel to a bottle of 100-proof whiskey that tastes like what your grandparents drank, before an evening of 1940's sexytime.

Carn: And here I am all out of Woodford Reserve.

And here I sit with a bottle of Double Oak and a bottle of Four Wood.  Can't touch it until after 5PM, and even then, just a shot glass of each.

http://www.nationalbourbonday.com/ says it's June 14, even though TFA is a June 13 post. Subby's in the clear...

I totally would but I'm broke with no way to go to Corbin and I had a tooth pulled yesterday.

The story was written yesterday but says today is national bourbon day. So technically subby is correct. The headline is a little misleading though.

I think we can at least agree that the best bourbon is the heavily-marketed dregs, because if you drink it chicks will have sex with you:

It was on sale here in our county liquor stores last week.  Got a bottle and tried it.  Really good, but I think I prefer Eagle Rare a bit more.  Also tried Evan Williams Single Barrel.  Better than the cheap stuff but not as good.

Thanks. Even in the People's Republic of Qweebekistan it's only 45$, which is about half the price of an Aberlour 16, for example. So not "cheap", but not breaking the bank either.

Knob Creek is pretty good.  So is Bulleitt (sp?).  Bourbon (or, at least, GOOD bourbon) is a rare thing for me due to its expense.  I'll have to go buy some today, though...

Old Fitzgerald (Bottled in Bond)
Very Old Barton
Very Old Barton (Bottled in Bond)

I've probably got one or two more, but I can't think of what off the top of my head. Anyway, if y'all want to come by the house tonight, I'll share a glass with ya.

mmmm Maker's is a staple for me but I'm not sure if I've tried any of the others aside from Evan Williams.  I'll have to look for some of those at the store.

I used to buy all different kinds of bourbons. They were all different, but I didn't think any one was that much better than the others.

Until I tried this:

And now it's pretty much the only bourbon I buy.
