Oh, if only they enjoyed practicing outdated medicine for the sake of novelty, too.

They were to headline Bonnaroo on Saturday. Nice timing.

Did they use trepanning with a wrought-iron chisel and no anaesthetic?

Man did guys have big nuts in the Middle Ages or what?

The melody during the verse of "I Will Wait" sounds too much like "Teach Your Children" by Crosby Stills & Nash.

Maybe that's a panniculus.

i like them...but i'm thinking the general fark concensus (sp?) is "meh"

now i'm glad i didn't have tix for this sold-out dallas show that i was previously saddened about not having tix to, esp. since my cubicle-mate and her fiancee had tix, and she's not a big fan, but her 51 y.o. fiancee is a hipster into bands that 20 y.o.s are into...he even likes vampire weekend. i can't stand v.w.

Did I miss something?  Is blood clot the new tumor?

I hope the dude gets better. A brain tumor is horrible. I hear he's a real nice fellow. It's also sad for all the people at Bonnaroo who bought tickets just to see Mumford and Sons.

I know what it's like to have a problem with your brain. I'm missing the special neuron receptors in my brain that makes Mumford and Sons sound good. I've tried everything. Took advice from trusted friends on which songs to check out, even saw them live in Telluride while on as many psychedelic drugs as everyone else there. Even the drugs couldn't fix my illness. There's something wrong with me I guess. I'm unable to understand this band's hackneyed horsesh*t appeal.

Their clothes go along with their music! Neat!

Rickenbacker: Did I miss something?  Is blood clot the new tumor?

yeah i wasn't going to put too much time/effort into this, but i did think i read "blood clot" the other day, and was wondering when it became a "brain tumor"

either way, glad he got treated before it killed him. i do like m&s!

i don't understand the hatred of them...i never say this, but considering they are somewhat unique-ish and super popular, i'm guessing a lot of the "hate" is "envy" ("jealous" gets misused more than "ironic" does)...as in, "why didn't i think of being a british brendan fraser look-alike playing simple-but-energetic americana-type music with an acoustic guitar and a bass drum, with a banjo player, etc?" he made a million dollars!

I like 'em too. They aren't going to save the world or anything, and they aren't the best band ever. But, in this poppy shiny autotuned world I like how they just stand and deliver old-timey tunes. I guess I am just kind of happy they got as popular as they did in this new music world of entertaining dance/pop music. Maybe they will inspire some young kid to search more bands that play similar instruments and get into that type of music or what not.

i really dig ...monsters... too, but they do it differently enough to make them...um...different. and they're icelandic, so they have that going for them. i don't know of that many icelandic chicks...to me the one from ...monsters... has a lot of facial qualities that bjork also has...do they all look like that, with rosey cheeks, etc? they're both real cuties

Or, maybe it's just bland when posh people act like they've discovered the poors' music for the first time.

You were around in the 90s, and you made Hootie and Blowfish popular. God damn you.

hahaha yes, I did have cracked rearview...but their second album sucked.

I like(d) all sorts of trendy popular music.

Musical hindsight is irrelevant.

actually an airforce buddy of mine who had been stationed in iceland prior to ramstein (where i knew him) said that all the icelandic women are cute.

hootie was great, and so is darius's country stuff.

pop (i.e. non-innovative, non-groundbreaking) doesn't have to = bad. sometimes simple music is really good and enjoyable. some people do it far better than others do. darius is just a good solid entertainer with a love for what he does, and it shows.

same with aaron lewis...staind is one of the very select few "nu-metal" bands i really like, and then his country stuff is really good too. as my coworker put it, "he could sing the phone book and i'd like it"

i also was a big fan of the monkees, and yes i know they were a made-for-tv band

I've spent some time in Iceland, and I can assure you that not all Icelandic women are cute.  Sure, many are cute, but the rest are drop-dead beautiful.

agreed. i like pretty much every type of music...some much more than others (like, i am EXTREMELY selective with rap).

People can like what they like, but it is weird to me when people only listen to one genre. There is good music in every genre, and I don't like limiting myself. I'm open minded. I will give it a listen.

i was checking out new releases...this seems to be amazing to me...just found them about 20 minutes ago

progressive post rock? I don't know...kick ass instrumental whatever you want to call it.

I've never been to Iceland, but I've seen the Sigur Ros documentary and I saw a few women who were not attractive.

Seriously, they exist of course, but you will find very, very few places with a higher percentage of really attractive women.

WTF is this band?   Are they from ireland and lost their accents?   Or are they a southern band that needs to stay there.   I'll say they have some talent instrumentally, but a barbershop quartet strumming along should only be popular in states where line-dancing is popular.
